Hi Ron,

I need to double check math, as I am not sure. I just was approved for 60% CRSC, going up from 20%.

DFAS RAS: $3,009 (states VA waiver of 4,100.40 under it now. On my DFAS printout, it states 5767.47 for my high 3).
DoD %: 50
Total AFS: 12 years, 5 months and 2 day, but have over 20 yrs for grey area retirement once I hit 56
VA: 100%, 1 spouse and 1 kid, receive SMC-K
CRSC: Just was approved for 60% from 20%
No other retirement or was not on blended retirement system.

Please let me know if I missed anything. Thank you!

Hello,

1, Inferred Gross retired pay on RAS 3009/50% = 6018 high three including any COLA increases
2. Active duty equivalent 12 years 5 months (should be the same on retirement orders under "Disability Retirement"
12.42 x 2.5% = 31.05% longevity multiplier
3. 6018 x 31.05% = 1868.59 longevity portion of retired pay and one of the CRSC ceilings
4. CRSC rate from VA comp tables, spouse and child @60% = 1,528.65
5. The amount at item 4 is less than the amount at item 3; consequently, it is the CRSC rate payable
6. Your CRSC, based on the info you provided = 1528.65

Ron
Note: I did not include SMC-k. If it was approved as combat related, 128.62 would be added to the 1528.65

Hi Ron,
I wanted to see if you could help me calculate what my CRSC could be. My active duty time is pretty low, so I'm guessing a CRSC % won't be a factor.

—Gross Retirement pay is $6244
—DoD disability percentage is 100%
—Active duty equivalent 4.5 Years
—VA compensation percentage; amount; and dependents (category, number, and ages of children) 100%, $3,985.96, two children under 18.
—Approved CRSC percentage Not yet.
—Other type military retirement eligibility info

Hello @NateC

1. 6244/75% = 8323.33 high three ave base pay
2. 4.5 AD equivalent x 2.5% (2% is used if blended retirement is a factor) = 11.25% longevity multiplier
3. 8323.33 x 11.25% = 936.37 longevity portion of retired pay
4. Gross retired pay 6244 minus 3985.96 = 2258.04 residual retired pay
5. The combination of residual retired pay and CRSC cannot exceed the longevity amount.
6. The residual itself exceeds the longevity amount = zero CRSC payable

Hello,

What is the gross amount of your retired pay on your DFAS RAS? A new RAS should be available on MyPay.

What is your active duty equivalent shown on page one of your retirement orders under “Disability Retirement “ ?

What is the new amount of your VA compensation?

Were you enrolled in the blended retirement program?

Regards,
Ron

Hello,

Based on the info you provided

1. 3537/60% = 5895 high three including any recent COLA increases
2. Your retired pay is reduced to zero by the VA offset of 4373
3. 18.667 AD 2.5% = 46.67 longevity multiplier
4. 5895 x 46.67% = 2751.66 longevity portion of retired pay
5. 90% CRSC spouse and 5 children under 18 = 2,486.39 + 4@90 total: 2846.39

6. CRSC cannot exceed the longevity amount of retirement pay. The CRSC payable is 2751.66

Thank you

@citiboiboi13B
You are welcome.

13B PMOS? As a draftee, I spent 1967 - 1968 in Lawton, OK. Downtown Reminded me of Juarez, Mexico at the time.

It was for the first 10 years, then I went to the darkside. I hated Lawton; sad thing is I had to go there for all NCOES & basic/advance course.

I hitchhiked home to West Texas almost every weekend.
