Chapter 61 CRSC estimate (less than 20 years AD)

Looking for CRSC estimate based on following:
1. Gross retired pay from DFAS RAS-$2296
2. Residual retired pay.$0
3. DoD Disability percentage-60%
4. VA compensation:
a. 100%
b. $4409
c. Spouse and 4 kids
5. Active duty time-11.5 years
6. Approved CRSC percentage-40%
7. Blended retirement program- NO

Just received first CRSC statement on DFAS for $1022. I believe I’m getting 40% from VA chart because I think my longevity pay would be a little higher than that.

One of the caps is the VA rate. So if 40% VA for yourself and qualified dependents is less than the money lost in longevity due to VA offset then you haven't maxed out CRSC compensation. If you were to get your CRSC rate increased from 40% to a higher rating you would receive more compensation. Though its possible that you are close to other caps. If you run the numbers you can see what the max amount is that you can get.

@RonG has a resource posted on CRSC

I was just approved for 50% CRSC any idea what my longevity pay would be?

Hello @KBO ,

You posted this in January 2024:
Chapter 61 CRSC estimate (less than 20 years AD)

Looking for CRSC estimate based on following:
1. Gross retired pay from DFAS RAS-$2296
2. Residual retired pay.$0
3. DoD Disability percentage-60%
4. VA compensation:
a. 100%
b. $4409
c. Spouse and 4 kids
5. Active duty time-11.5 years
6. Approved CRSC percentage-40%
7. Blended retirement program- NO

Estimate at new 50%:

a. 2296 / 60% = 3826.67 high three
b. 11.5 inferred active duty equivalent x 2.5% = 28.75% longevity multiplier
c. 3826.67 x 28.75% = 1100.17 longevity based on the info you provided
d. Previously you said you were receiving 1022 CRSC .
e. You will receive the longevity portion of your retired pay as CRSC since 50% with spouse and 4 children is more than the computed longevity today. Note: The longevity amount would not have changed since January of this year.

Comment 11.5 AD is 11 years and 6 months. If you intended to show 11 years and 5 months, then that would be 11.416 AD.
11.416 x 2.5% = 28.54% longevity multiplier
3826.67 x 28.54% = 1092.23 longevity amount
