CRSC increase?

Not going to waste a lot of time, so quick summary and question.

I was retired in 2013 @60% Army, 90% VA. Years later I realized I could apply for a CRSC increase if my disability rating changed.

Not sure why they didn’t include the 90% the first time.

Either way, I got a letter with the above information today.

It also says that there is a 6 yr statute of limitation for retroactive, anything applied to after would only be eligible for 6 yr retro.

My questions are:

1. Does this mean I’ll get an increase in CRSC? (My disability went from 60-90 combat related)
2. If yes, does that mean they’ll give 6 yrs retro?

Thanks everyone.

So this is just showing approved for CRSC. Their are many caps for CRSC to include you can't get more than the value of your earned longevity pension + VA compensation. There are many that don't get any CRSC even if approved. It just depends on your CRSC % and how much if any you lost out on due to VA offset. How long did you serve? The longer you were in the more valuable your longevity pension is. If you are already getting 60% CRSC and got it increased there is a decent chance you won't get any more CRSC due to this cap. My wife has 80% CRSC but she only needed 50% CRSC to max out compensation and recoup the money lost due to the VA offset.

It’s all very confusing.

I’m at 100% VA.

I hope me submitting didn’t decrease my entitlement.

I served about 9.5 yrs. High 3 was fun to calculate, I spent 2 yrs as an 01E, prior to that 1 month as E6 and 2 yrs before that E5.

You can't lose any money by applying for CRSC so you have nothing to worry about. Calculate your earned longevity pension using 2% or 2.5% if legacy time years. so 19% if BRS and if legacy its 23.75% times your HIGH 3. That is the value of your earned longevity pension. Take that and add it to your total VA compensation. That is the most you can get unless you are the lucky few who's chapter 61 pension is greater. If your high 3 was 3k for example and legacy pension not BRS then your pension value is $712.50. If your entire chapter 61 pension check is offset by getting VA then that is the most you can get. That is how much you are not getting due to the VA offset. So if your CRSC % is high enough using VA pay tables that would be the amount you get. If you got 10% CRSC then you would only get that amount and would be leaving money on the table.
