Does anyone have a good understanding of the current turnaround for CRSC from received into iPerms to decision?
I'm assuming it's a 90 calendar day wait before I hear anything back, thank
CRSC Timeline
• 2004: Medically retired as a WO1 with 40% of my base pay. My waived retirement pay was calculated at $1,260/month.
• March 2021: Filed my initial Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) claim. But denied in June 2021
• 2022: A lawyer assigned to my case by the National Legal Services for Veterans (NLSV) in Washington, D.C., began working on my CRSC claim.
• June 2024: My claim was denied due to a missing document (the original physician’s report from my 1996 military vehicle accident). It took over three years to identify the missing document.
• June 2024: After consulting with a CRSC representative , I located and submitted the required document immediately.
• July 2024: My reconsideration request was placed back into the queue, requiring an additional 120 business days for review.
• October 23, 2024: Received approval for my CRSC claim. I was awarded 90% of my waived retirement pay, retroactively covering April 2015 to the present. The monthly amount is $1,260.
• November 29, 2024: My first monthly payment of $1,260 is scheduled to be deposited. However, I am still waiting for my back pay to be processed by DFAS, which covers 2015 to 2024.
I hope this helps others navigating their CRSC process! If anyone has advice about when to expect back pay or how to follow up with DFAS, I’d love to hear it!
