I was awarded 40% at the MEB so of course being a dual status tech that means that I loss my GS position. Now for the question the HRO staff does not seem to have the answer to. According to the OPM web sight and what HRO is telling me I will be able to make 80% of my GS position. But the OPM web sight makes a point of stating that they have a different meaning of wages than the IRS but does not expand on what is considered wages.
I know if I move that I will be able to make 80% wages of whatever the local area allows.
The big problem is that I was offered a job in Germany and no one can tell me just what is considered income overseas. Housing, travel etc.
I called the OPM contact number and after 50 minutes on hold a man answered and asked me for my SSN. He told me that I was not in the system. I told him that I was still in but that my HRO could not answer my question. He then told me that I must go through my HRO and hung up on me.
I did read that I would have to report my earning to the OPM each year but no one can seem to get me a copy of said form or even the form number.
I wouldn't worry about going over the 80% but I will need to keep my insurance through OPM.
Thanks in advance
Chuck
