Flagged for overweight after 6 months in MEB/PEB

Just got flagged the beginning of this month after 1 yr on profile for lower back and 6 months in the MEB/PEB process. Waiting for my paperwork to come back sometime this month. Can they flag me even though all I can do is walk and diet and will the flag still affect my discharge at the rank I was pending promotion to? Been promotable for 13 months and have just under 6yrs in and have never been overweight til after I injured myself.

I am in the same boat. M E6 stripe is on admin hold until i get my wasit down. been going throught the MEB process since Oct 2010. On the bright side you will still sep/ret at the rank you were supposed to hold when the MEB was initiated

The rank is good but the pay is better. You won't get paid for the rank if your not wearing it. I lost 30 pounds and 5 1/2 inches by dieting and slow walking in about 90 days, it can be done and you need to be focused.

Jeep Freak~ BRAVO! I am a health professional and I wanted to "say it"..many times to those on this forum who are having a difficult time with their weight. I just want to say GOOD, no GREAT JOB..... people really don't want to listen when you are the "professional". BUT...I too...have stayed fit by JUST walking and eating right. I was an athlete...my life has been turned upside down. everyone asks "how do you look so good"? ATTITUDE! DISCIPLINE! DESIRE! COMMITMENT! I DESIRE to be healthy and fit! & to get MY LIFE BACK! It doesn't come over night. I started walking in the water because I could not put one foot in front of the other on land...but with rest, and a little push from everyone around me...I crawled out and started walking on the land too...little by little. I still SWEAR by the water (just walking) but I do my 2 twenty-thiry minute walks a day...and I eat healthy. Scout...I know its tough-we've all been there. My back, and my legs are weak and a wreck....You can pull it back together and get back on track. It takes time...but please don't cave to all this crap....be one of us who are winning the fight. It doesn't mean we are not hurt...but it means we are not just a number! I really hope you can get into your weight regs, get the promotion you deserve...with back injuries a lot of us end up on TDRL for a while....I hope you take that time to heal, not just your body...but your mind and spirit as well! Good Luck and Good Health!

I don't want to preach to anyone and it up to them to want to do it. I nearly passed out doing my ROM, I have tachicardia, Back, leg, and feet issues. I was going to pass no matter what because that was not the way I wanted to leave. I now have another test coming in Nov and I'm hoping I'll be on terminal leave but now losing and keeping the weight off is for me. It can be done and I'm done.

I tell everyone at work my new goal in life is to be 350 lbs. I don't intend to keep this goal.

My unit flagged me cause, I'm over weight. Do to a right knee injury, just had my first surgery in April, second one scheduled for Sept. I have to walk with a cane. And I should of been promoted 7months ago to Spc. My 1SGT won't send me to WTU, cause my other duties assigned is unit armor, (primary: 11B- infantry). My ETS is March 8th, 2013. With 59 days in total saved up for terminal leave. Which puts me out if the Army Jan 9th, 2013. But I can't find any other reference than AR 600-8-1-15B, and that doesn't help me. I'm on this caveman diet, and nothing's happening I can't seem to be looking the weight, so I guess I'm stuck... Someone help

For what? Being flagged?

Need to know what your issue is before we can help.

But what is the problem? Being flagged will keep you from re- enlisting, PCSing, going to schools. If you are going through MEB/PEB you can't be involuntarily separated for ETS.

What are you concerned about the flag impacting you?

I have been in the army since 2008, I did some reserve time and now i'm active. Been to OIF in 09 and ended up jacking up my back and then my knee in Air Assault School and was diagnosed with a nasty thyroid disorder in 2012. I'm currently going through the MEB process and have put on about 20 pounds since then. Since the army has changed the whole weight/tape standard, can you be involuntarily discharged for over weight if you've come off the army body composition program within the last 12 months and bust tape again even though you're going through the MEB ? not trying to get screwed over while trying to get all this stuff done.

No, you can't. See AR 635-200.
