Here is a look at my husband's timeline so far.. He is AD if that matters at all..

October 2012: MEB started by his PCM
October 2012: MEB packet approved.
November 2012: First meeting with his Peblo.
December 7 & 14 2012: VA exams.
January 2013: Call from Peblo saying his Narsum should be ready this week (Jan 14-18)

Now just more waiting.. Biggest thing we are waiting for is that unfit/fit status! So, hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Just hang in there. I went through the Fort Drum WTU and the process was quick. They have it pretty wired in there. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am still pretty well connected with all the WTU staff and support services.

Im guessing he should be seeing it this week if he hasnt received a phone call yet. The other person that started the same time I did also got the phone call today that his Narsum was ready as well.

Thanks

Hey Briyawna

did you get to see the C&P report or go through it after your C&P exams. Was there a DOD appt between C&P and Narsum coming in?

I'm not sure.. its my husband going through the med board stuff, not me. But, his Peblo called and said his Narsum is done, so he's up there now reviewing it. I think they went over the exam stuff with him, but I am not sure.

Yep his C&P exam papers are with all his Narsum papers..
The only thing of my husband's that does not meet retention standards is the issues he has with his knees. So, hopefully that is enough for him to be found unfit. I guess we'll see.. He has a week to go over his narsum and sign if he agrees with everything.

What are the other issues that the VA looked at?

With just his knees, I would lean towards the PEB finding unfit, but issuing severance. Maybe the other stuff is stuff he can appeal and add to his NARSUM.

I'd be interested to know his conditions also.

I tore my miniscus in my left knee ...it was one of my referred conditions to MEB (along with migraine) got xray that showed joint effussion, no mri, sent to Physical therapist, did physical therapy for 3 months, got a permanent profile for left knee and no more running jumping deep bends ruck etc. but the VA C&P lady said oh you never had an MRI so that doesn't count as something they will rate.

is that right? i mean I saw my unit doctor who sent me to physical therapist and those two wrote permanent profile which was signed by senior hospital officer? she made it sound as if we moved right on to the migraines and cancer. wtf?

I don't think she knows what she is talking about. If you were referred for it, the C&P doc should have examined it, including a ROM test. Having it rated doesn't require an MRI. It would help maybe, but not a requirement. It sounds like that is the condition the MEB is going to use to recommend you to the PEB as a fails to meet retention standards. How soon until you get your NARSUM?

She literally put in her C&P report. " SM claimed conditions with symptoms, non validated by medical diagnosis and/or acute conditions will be addressed as such, or under the condition which they may be associated" :
Chronic Left Knee Pain
Right Knee Pain

I was originally ref to MED for 2 conditions not meeting retention standards:
chronic left knee pain
migraine headaches

but i of course had a malignant melanoma tumor surgically removed in sep 2012 and currently as set for lymph node scans every 90 days to ensure cancer has not spread. so i'm hoping that get under does not meet retention standards too.

i see MEB Physician this friday so hopefully NARSUM around the 8th Feb.

Nothing really new to post to my husband's timeline.. But, he had an appointment with his DR that started the MEB process and he said that his narsum should be heading to DC by this Wednesday.. He also said that things have been going really fast as far as med boards go.. He said he has seen people get their unfit status, VA ratings, and orders all within 4-6 weeks.. LOL.. We'll see if that happens. I doubt it lol not going to get my hopes up.. Hopefully by the end of the month I will actually have something to update!

Other than his knees he has sleep apnea which he is having added to his narsum.. It was just recently diagnosed and being treated as soon as he picks his cpap machine up.

So, my husband has an appointment with his peblo tomorrow to review his appeal on his narsum and make sure everything is correct now and if it is they'll be sending off to DC tomorrow! So.. HOPEFULLY by the end of the month or so he'll get his unfit/fit memo, and we'll be able to cross that stage off the list!!

Make sure that if it is both knees they separate each one so they both get rated. Do not let them list both of them together as bilateral.

January 2013: Narsum done for review
January 2013: My husband appealed his narsum to have sleep apnea added
February 15, 2013: Narsum appeal finished, reviewed, and sent to DC..

Now to wait to see if he gets found unfit or not.

I had bilateral shin splints, peb took it as two separate unfitting conditions.
