Fort Lewis PEB

I am on the PEB stage, just waiting for my ratings to come back, my question is what happens if i ask for a va reconsideration. Is that same as an appeal, now i know what the Range of motions was for and the quality of life, it not better its getting worse than when I had my VA exam back in JAN.

smacinnes40,
I have the same question, I got my proposed ratings yesterday and I am pleased with 40% for my current condition, but out of 10 service connected disabilities they only gave me a rating for one of them and listed the rest as "The evidence does not show a current diagnosed disability and ends with disability was not present while in service, I have two of the conditions that have documentation, I had an ultrasound for one and an endoscope for the other with pics. No Evidence??? they didnt check my records when doing the C&P exam.

Did they deny a disability or service connection? Or did they apply a 0% rating? They may be saying you have evidence of it existing at one point, but currently nothing is showing.

denied service connection, which my Medical records states different, that is why i dont think the QTC Doc didnt look at my med records because not that i look at his summary from the VA states no evidence.

If you have evidence from your service records, very easy to appeal that with the VA. All the locations, dates, times, everything would be there. Go ahead and appeal!

Finally got notice that my ratings from VA came back, so my next question for those at JBLM, for those within this month and last month. How long did it take to get your 199 after VA ratings came back.

Wishing Well's took 4 weeks to the day.

The PEB has had my VA ratings since 7 September, I was informed the PEB ratings were "typed up" on 18 Spetember and that now, for some odd reason the PEB board president has not signed it. WTF? Two weeks for a final signature? I am beyond frustrated with this process and the worst part is, there is no end in sight.

Believe it or not, sometimes these people go on leave and the paperwork sits there on their desk until they return from leave.

I wonder if SEPTEMBER is a heavy leave month for usage as folks can lose leave on the books come the new fiscal year that starts 01 OCT?

Keep us posted on your results!

I signed my 199 on the 11th... anyone roughly on the same timeline receive their orders yet?

Yeah signed my 199 on the 12th got sent up on the 13th still waiting on orders and Transproc. I am going on 3 weeks tomorrow. PEBLO said that Fort Bliss is taking about a month to generate Transproc. Sick and tired if the wait but hey what can you say.

Took me 2 months from the time I signed my NARSUM and like grizz said a month from the time my 199 was in the "typing phase".

Anyone have a timeline for a request for the informal board to reconcider combat-related findings?

Anyone have a timeline for a request for the informal board to reconcider combat-related findings?
Do you mean to put in the request or to get an answer?

It depends on the complexity of the case, but from my recent cases, I have seen 6-8 weeks. Though, if the issue is just combat-related, I would think it would be a quicker turnaround.

Jason,
Thank you. It is just the combat-related question. They have taken very good care of me, so I am just trying to save some taxes on my Chap. 61 retirement. No matter how they answer the question, I am done, and will not go to a formal board. It would be stupid to risk 70% retirement over some tax money.

Best regards

If things go sideways on the PEB rebuttal, remember, after you are retired, you can pick up the appeal with the BCMR without any risk (the BCRM can't take away anything, they can only grant relief).

Glad you are happy with your results, though. Congratulations and best wishes in your retirement!

Jason, Thanks for the BCMR recommendation.

If I need to go in that direction, I will probably need a lawyer. You interested? I am a lousy (not smart) client. 28 years service in the NG, 24 years on jump status, and SF duty, and no medical records of any jumping injuries. I have an eval that talks about saving a fellow jumper after I was "beaten and bruised" from a tree landing. Nothing else. "Doctors are for the weak." <--- dumb...

This site has really kept me sane over the last several months.
