Found Unfit 50%AF/100%P&T VA on 31 Oct 2023 - Still required to Report for Duty

As of 22 Jan 2023, I am still awaiting Medical Retirement Orders from SAFPC due to a Grade Review. I had an Art 15 resulting in loss of rank from E6-E5 effective the day before I found out my ratings.

- Confirmed receipt of 356 to AFPC on 31 Oct 2023
- Sometime mid November, they sent it SAFPC for grade review
- On 15 Dec 2023, MyFSS case# shows adjudication/processing status

No updates or ETA since.

I have since ran out of leave and am going insane just sitting at work 8hrs a day since my disabilities prevent me from performing my AFSC duties. It quite literally hurts me physically and mentally to do so. I am going to pursue the un-chargeable "Leave Awaiting Orders" with my Command but IDK how likely since I'm a recent trouble maker.

Any advice on how to approach this meeting? My AF 469 LIMDUTY Profile states:
"Member is NOT cleared for any PT
Duty Restrictions: No Running
Allow to take breaks as needed from duties

Mobility Restrictions:
No PCS
No Mobility
No TDY"

I haven't taken a break I normally would prior to the Art 15 cause Im afraid of the perspective that I am abusing it now I am in trouble. Did it all the time before due to chronic migraines but now I'm just suffering at work.

I appreciate any guidance

What service? This is OUTRAGEOUS that your commander is doing this to you. Look ahead to the light at the end of the tunnel to where you won't have to deal with people like that. My commander was amazing during my whole process, and I was only assigned one project during the 8 months of my MEB, otherwise I stayed home like 90% of the time.

What was the Art 15 for? Does it feel like punishment or retribution for your reduced ability to work/show up on time/etc... because of your condition? It's probably not worth it cause of the timeline, but it may be worth hitting up your IG.

I'm Active Duty Air Force. My Article 15 is for "Failure to Report" and "Making False Official Statements".

I was in SkillBridge, did NOT like it. Quit 0700 on a Monday. I had Surgery with 3 weeks Convalescent leave scheduled the following Wednesday. Decided to just stay home and take care of my little one as she was sick from Pre-K.

Gotta a call from 1st Shirt the Tuesday in-between. She asked in a roundabout way of "How the SkillBridge is going? You quit, you say? When?"
At this point I panicked and said 1500 the previous day. She then revealed she knew everything from the beginning and to report immediately. I reported in with my sick kid, was verbally reprimanded and alerted that I am now under a CC investigation and further details would come after Surgery.

3 weeks come and go. Immediately notified that I am receiving an Art 15 for the reasons above. Didn't fight it, admitted to everything, as I know I committed those acts.

Relieved to know it was just loss of pay and rank reduction and no attempts at Court Marshall or Administrative discharge. That was my first infraction/paperwork/counseling since arriving in 2019.

I know I should have communicated my intentions with leadership as they would have most likely have said "no worries" as I was liked and respected in the Squadron. But now it felt like I singlehandedly became the biggest shit stain that they are forced to deal with. As if I personally hurt leadership on an intimate level. Meanwhile you got multiple Security Clearance Violations, an EO complaint, and felony level Sex crimes in other personnel and they aren't nearly as ostracized or punished.

I brought up those feelings to leadership and it has diminished and/or I simply don't care anymore. But every single move I make that takes me beyond my desk during duty hours has to be cross checked with my supervisor or 1st shirt as if I'm a flight risk/Threat to myself or others.

I'm rambling but yea, that's been my life since November. Only reprieve has been family and holidays.

I’m sorry to hear all that, it sucks but you are simultaneously lucky that you didn’t receive a harsher punishment but also unlucky that you got an Article 15 to begin with. When did your MEB start? It’s a little confusing because you mentioned Skillbridge in there too.

MEB Began/Ended = May/July
PEB/VA decision = Oct 28/Oct 25

And I am lucky, I'm not discontent with the consequences as I know I fudged up. But Maybe some lingering feels of "Ok that happened, Let's move on".

I'm just trying to get a better approximation of how much longer I have in obligations to report to work.

I sat down with leadership to see what they thought of the "Leave Awaiting Orders" provision and they have been "discussing it" since 23 Jan. They updated me today with a statement " they are researching some things on the back-end"

Idk what that means, but they have been a lot more hospitable when I mentioned I have not been obliging my Profile due to perceptions of skating. Their eyes opened wide when it entered the Convo.

But I guess it's just more waiting till then.

Thanks for the words of support. I appreciate them.
