I am wondering if I should fight to add flat feet and carpel tunnel to my med board. If found unfit, I would be 100% VA and 100% DOD all combat related conditions.

Time in service: 8 years
High three: $3400
VA: $3800

I am wondering what my total monthly amount would be with the VA and DOD together.

Hello.

CRSC Estimate

The following is needed for someone to compute your CRSC:
Accurate information needed within one reply:

1.--Average high three for basic pay (total of the highest 36 months of pay divided by 36) RECOMMENDATION: As an alternative (and better) cite the gross retired pay on the most recent DFAS RAS.1a Indicate which you are furnishing (i.e., the gross retired pay from the recent RAS or the average high three).
Example reply: The Gross retired pay on my DFAS RAS is $2900.
Example Reply 2: The total of my highest 36 months of pay divided by 36 is $3600.

1a.--Did you receive a DoD disability retirement (i.e., "Chapter 61")?
Example reply: I did receive a DoD disability retirement.

2.--DoD disability percentage
Example reply: My DOD disability retirement (Chapter 61) percentage shown in my retirement orders was 70%.

3. --Active duty years and months (or active duty equivalent for RC members which is total creditable points divided by 360). Your retirement orders will show your active duty equivalent on page one, about 3/4 down the first page as “Disability Retirement”.
Example reply: My active duty equivalent shown on my retirement orders was: 9 years and 8 months
Example reply 2: My total creditable points for retirement divided by 360 results in: 9 years and 8 months

4. --VA compensation (All of the following):
a. percentage; Example reply: My VA Compensation percentage is 80%.
b. amount; Example reply: The amount of my VA compensation is $1900.
c. dependents by category and ages of dependent children.; Example reply: My dependents for VA compensation are spouse and 2 children under 18.

d. Also provide information pertaining to any SMCs you receive.
Example reply: I receive SMC-K.

5.--Projected or approved CRSC percentage by your service.
Example reply: My approved CRSC percentage is 70%.

6.--Whether you qualify for another type of retirement . Cite the type of other retirement for which you qualify such as reserve component at age 60. Example reply: I also qualify for a reserve retirement.

7.--Did you receive a REDUX/CSB payment? If REDUX was received, then all the info (amounts and description) on page one of your DFAS RAS is needed in addition to other info requested. Please show a description for each item. Example reply: I did not receive REDUX/CSB.

8.--Did you accept the Blended Retirement program option? Example reply: Yes I was under the blended retirement program.

Just curious - because I am in the same boat - How would you claim/word your justification for CRSC for flat feet?

I spent 95% of my time training in simulated war. My Mos is 0311 (Infantry) in the Marine Corps. It would be from all the hiking, fast roping, ruck running, running ranges in 29 palms, etc. I talked to my lawyer about it.

Sounds legit! Thank you.

If you don't mind me asking - is it IDES / DoD appointed lawyer or did you get a civilian attorney?

Estimate based on the info you provided.

1. You did not provide your DoD disability percentage as I requested, so I cannot compute your retired pay.
2. I assume that the large amount of VA comp reduces your retired pay to zero.
3. You show 2733 as your high three on your recent post; you previously showed 3400. I will use the 2733 as your high three.
4. 8 yrs and 1 month active duty = 8.083 years x 2% = 16.17% longevity multiplier
5. High three 2733 x 16.17% = 441.93 longevity portion of retired pay and a CRSC ceiling. It is much less than the 100% CRSC rate approved
6. Based on the information you provided, your CRSC = 441.93

Note: Average high three for basic pay is total of the highest 36 months of pay divided by 36.

So, to clarify - you're 100% DoD and 100% VA, you're already maxed out for both, if anything you could "potentially" add them to your VA claim as it will NOT change anything for DoD. On the VA side, it too will NOT change anything, however, having it at least documented in the VA system so that those conditions are "service-connected" is not a bad thing, however, any new claim opens up all of your claimed conditions for re-evaluation, so be careful what you ask for. When you get re-evaluation, your conditions can go up, stay the same or go down. If your lawyer says fight for it, then he's the one you're paying, not us. If it were me, not worth the aggravation.

I’m not sure about the retired pay but, I only receive the VA. DOD is 100%

The following does not change the computation I previous furnished:
You show 2733 as your high three on your recent post:

2733 x 75% = ~2050 retired pay which is reduced to zero due to the amount of the VA offset which is larger than the retired pay.

You provided two different high three base pay amounts. If the high three was not 2733; that would cause the computation for CRSC to be incorrect.

A more accurate method to determine your high three would be for you to provide the gross retired pay shown on page one for your most recent DFAS RAS on MyPay.
Gross retired pay divided by 75% (max DoD) = average high three in your case.
High three amount x 16.17% = your CRSC
