I sat down with my 1st sgt today to complete the commanders letter for my IDES MEB. He reccommended Medical discharge since i am not eligible for cross-train and i can no longer carry a weapon due to sleep apnea/ptsd. Im not disappointed with his recomendation i do agree i can no longer full fill my comitment but how much impact will this letter have with the PEB board? any feedback would be great.

The commander's letter does have a pretty sizeable impact, at least that is the case for the Navy. I have heard stories of people who were obviously unfit but were found fit mostly based on the Commander's Letter stating they felt the person was fit. Are you trying to get a disability rating or stay in?

i know that there is some truth to this but what if the commander has or lets say without any reasonable doubt does let the senior enlisted members tell him what he should do/say. this is what you should watch or listen for. cause if you have pissed someone off along the way and you need help from them at all they will go around you and shoot you in the back. this military of today has turned into a bunch of girls that try and screw over there own.

I think it depends on the leadership, mine thought because I couldn't deploy I couldn't do my job here or deployed. I had letter disputing that but even with those they still weighed my cc letter very heavily. They even put at the bottom of the decision that the cc letter is what made them decide to sep me. :/
