How to find out if Unfit???

So I emailed my PEBLO to ask if she could check and see if i was found unfit and she told me she will not update me until she gets proposed ratings.. so basically no help at all.. Just wanted to know if there is another way to find out if you are unfit. My package was accepted at the PEB on 28 JAN so i know i'm still very early but just wanted to see if there were other ways since my PEBLO is no help..

Thank you very much

Well, PEBLO is not doing the right thing. Once the local MEB is complete and you have signed your 3947/NARSUM it is sent to your regoinal PEB. The PEB the decides Fit or Unfit for continued service. If you are found Unfit, your packet is automatically sent to the VA for ratings. At this point the sit and wiat time hits again.

Once the unfit memo is published, your PEBLO is required to notify you. I know this because I am a PEBLO.

Thank you Sascha.. I guess i'll try and talk to her again. Shes not the easiest person to talk to and seems like i'm an inconvenience to her when i do. I guess if that wont work which i'm most certain it wont, i guess i just have to suck it up and just wait.. Thanks for all the input guys..

Just to verify..are you Army?

So who sends the VA the "go ahead" for ratings when you are unfit? Is that the PEB and is it automatically done when PEB determines you are Unfit?

So PBLO would have nothing to do except to notify the Service Member?

Yes to all questions.

OK Sascha so it is entirely possible the PEB finds you unfit and sends stuff to the VA.

And if your PEBLO is on leave or doesn't actively "look" for a memo (i'm not sure how these are sent in) then the Service Member wouldn't know they were found unfit until the PEBLO takes some sort of action to find out and tell them?

Also is there something the VA claim would be receiving coincidentally 24 to 48 hours after my MEB packet was submitted to PEB?

Once everything gets transmitted to the PEB, it is in thier court. Not sure what the deal is with (what seems to be) the PEBLOs on the AF side, but I have seen numerous times on this site (and own experience) that they suck.
To answer the question about PEBLO being on leave..they should have a backup that can assist you (we do).
Can't answer for the VA side of the house, but I don't think so.

I'm Army. and my guy is good. he just moved into PEBLO spot.

I was just curious how they get notified of an UNFIT Memo? is it email? or what?

I agree not sure what gets sent to VA between initial claim being opened and then PEB contacting them with the unfit?

Just thought it was interesting that the VA saw on my file today that they had recvd files and documents on 6 Feb 2013.

I just hate guessing and not knowing.

I can only speak for the Army side. The PEB places a copy of the VA Preliminary Rating Request memo with the PEB referred unfitting conditions in the SM's case file prior to sending it to the D-RAS for a rating. The PEBLOs have access to view and retrieve the unfit memo. In my experience in working with PEBLOs, some will notify the SM when they are found unfit and give them a copy of the memo and some will only provide the SM a copy of the memo if they request it.
