I am a reservist with over 20 years at the MEB. I already received PEBLO contact and counseling and am waiting for the MSC from VA to call me (almost a month now). I was reading DOD Instruction 1332.18, Volume 2, and there is certain timeliness in place. As usual, the big Army does not meet these timelines. Who is holding these people responsible? No one. The interesting thing is that WE are required to respond within a certain timeframe, but they can take their sweet time.
As usual and especially in the reserves, we are treated as not equal to our AD counterparts, but the DOD instruction does not distinguish between reserve and AD for timelines. In any case, I did contact Mark Haaland, the director of Government Affairs at the Association of the United States Army. Supposedly, they are located in DC and advocate for the Army Reserve and AD.
If you have the time and energy, please get in touch with him and discuss your concerns (info below). The Army failing to meet DOD guidelines and MEB process steps is a systematic problem. It might not change the process, but at least something will be discussed, and perhaps the next guys/gals after us won't experience the delays we are dealing with.
