For those of you who may be new to the MEB/PEB process and are visual learners, I am posting the picture below. While it says "IDES Timeline" at the top, you'll find that the timeline of the process is largely notional…

Hope this helps in understanding the process!

Its missing some steps at the end . once you are deemed unfit . all medical records are sent to the VA for ratings. then it goes back to PEB to get your DOD / VA rating .(6-9 weeks) After this point can you accept the findings or appeal. Then you have I think up to 90 days which is included terminal leave to separate from Military .

Yeah, it is a little unclear on that part, which is why I was confused my case was taking so long at the VA. I didn't realize that the VA findings go back to the PEB before they issue the official results. For some reason I thought the PEB made it's own assessment of the conditions and compared that to the VA's ratings, which I know now is not how it's done. Makes sense now, though.

It doesn't happen that way for reserve component members (ANG), the medical records going back for VA ratings does not happen, correct? I got my unfit recommendation and then retired out.

The VA is the only place that can give ratings

My VAMSC stated once all C&P examines are complete, she forwards a copy to my PEBLO to send to MEB reviewer for the NARSUM and she send a copy straight to VAPRB to begin getting ratings. That way that process is already started while the PEB determines "fit" or "unfit".

has to go to the board to get a fit/unfit determination first . then the peb sends it to the VA . cant do both at the same time. then it goes back to the peb for your severance or retirement msg

how did you get retired out without a rating from the VA . the VA is the only one who gives ratings not the dod

It goes to the VA for a rating and then comes back to DoD for their rating. Just got my back. 80% from VA, 60% from Army.

according to the AKO Meb/Peb tracker, this is the step I am on: PEB Appeal or VA Reconsideration which is the 2 to last step.

can anyone give some further clarification on what this step means?

PDA Action & SecArmy Approval is the final step

February 3 is showing as the completion date.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Indeed, congratulations on the recent receipt of your DoD proposed and DoVA proposed ratings! :D

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Anyone ever heard of the "QA Phase" ..
apparently that is where mine is at according to the PEB office.

hello everyone, I'm new to this site and recently medically retired from the Marine Corps. I got my ratings back in august and my EAS date was October 30th. I went to the VA the other day and they told me i had a disability rating of 0. I told them that i went thru the ides process and they told me that their system just hasn't updated and that my ratings were proposed and not final. they said i should be receiving a letter sometime confirming my ratings. just wanted to see if any of that is true or are they just stupid. My wounded warrior people told me that the ratings back in august that i signed were my final ratings.

if you went through the ides process you should have gotten a va proposed rating. and if you were medically discharged you should have gotten a 30% rating or a severance package. The va proposed rating should have came about half way through the whole process.

Unfortunately, your "wounded warrior people" were totally inaccurate with the information they provided to you; hmm, they should definitely know better than that! :(

Nonetheless, as based upon your feedback, you should be receiving your DoVA final ratings from the D-RAS in about one to two months from now!

To that extent, do you have an eBenefits account at this point? If so, you can check the current status of your post-DoD IDES disability claim and receive "instant" situational awareness when your veteran disability claim associated with the DoD IDES process is completed! Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

thanks so much for the heads up, i do have an ebenfits account but this has all been overwhelming and i honestly lose track of it all. thank you again and take care!

Indeed, you are quite welcome! :)

Hmm, we truly comprehend your heightened anxiety and potential frustration albeit we are here to lend additional assistance if needed. To that extent, no worries, please take care too and most importantly enjoy life!

after the da 199 has been signed and accepted, do you guys know how long the rest of the process takes?

From my experiences within the DoD IDES process via an U.S. Army perspective, upon my acceptance of the DA Form 199-1 Formal #1 documentation, it took approximately 45 calendar days until I received official notification for receipt of the TRANSPOC-III message from the military installation RSO. ;)

To that extent, three calendar days later, I was officially in receipt of my military disability retirement orders. Afterwards, five calendar days later, I am had my final out date from the military Active Duty unit with placement thereafter onto the military TDRL on the 91st calendar day...a glorious 618 calendar days within the DoD IDES process in total! :D

Indeed, your current HQ USAPDA processing time of the DA Form 199 may be far less than 45 calendar days at this point within the DoD IDES process; I am not certain for sure.

Hmm, what's your assigned PEBLO stating is the approximate processing duration of the DA Form 199 until receipt of the TRANSPOC-III message at this point in time within the DoD IDES process?

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

3 to 6 weeks until the retirement orders are done, I don't remember what else she said
