IDES Timeline

On a separate note have any of you in the 100s with the M/Os been applying for jobs. I began but then stopped because of all the fuck fuck timeline games and trying to avoid pissing employers off and ruining my chances with them later on. I do have a paid internship locked on, but am starting to think that I need to drop a bunch of applications now.

Plan was to take all 15 days to sign findings, and then start ptad terminal process and during this time drop 100 applications.

I signed my ratings same day. I started dropping job applications but am goin to stop now that it might be a while to get my orders. The job market is hot right now and I know I can get one during terminal leave or while I am checking out. I got call backs and interviews with all the places I put in a resume for so far.

Same here i applied to a few and everyone of them answered. One place wanted me to start immediately. Good to see that my thought process isn’t flawed. Just worried about having a place to live and a way to pay bills with a family and all.

So, if you turn your DD214 into the VA as soon as it drops, (midnight of the day of your EAS) you will get the money 45 days from then. However, my OWF coordinator said to make your end of service day before the last day of the month. For whatever reason that makes the system process it faster. All of this is what I've been told. Haven't gone through it yet. I will be sure to give any insight though.

When do you get to pick your end of service day

When do you get to pick your end of service day
I wish I knew 100% lol

I think once you get it, you can move it to the left, but not to the right. And your end of service is based on how much leave you have. *That's what I am told*

I heard that you should pick a date towards the end but before the 25th of the month to be safe

I have- landed an interview on Thurs. They know I'm in a medboard, it's a GS position, and I might be able to do a 'cross training' thing if they need me before I'm out.

That’s good to hear. My current boss wants to keep me as a GS but after working where I work I decided being a GS is not for me. There are a lot of openings where I work however.

Hey, if I get it, I get it and if not, I don't. It's my first job interview I've ever done in my life, at 30 haha. So if anything, I'm taking it as gaining experience either way. But it'd be pretty sweet- I'd make double what I'm making now doing the exact same stuff haha.

That's awesome about the openings though!!

That is a good way to look at it. Once you do more interviews you will become more confident. Recommend reviewing the star method for answering questions, i think it really helped me get my internship. The GS jobs are good deals and have some of the best benefits, but I don’t feel like they always pay people what they are worth. For instance I was offered a GS 10 job, and know a LCpl who got out to be a GS-10. I feel like with a degree and my experience I should be getting paid more than said LCpl, but they won’t budge because she has been working there for a year. Sounds bad, but I feel like I could so better somewhere else. Lot of office politics and nepotism from what I have seen where I work.

How do you guys know where your shit is? My peblo just says I don't know when I ask for an update. I'm up to 188 days. She told me in Feb I might get my stuff back, yeah right.

So even if you get your findings back, how long does it take to get out? I am trying to see if it is even possible to go to school full-time in the summer.
How do you even get her to respond lmao. I assume you just go in, but anytime I email or call her to ask my status she either doesn't reply or answer.

I've been on the board for 196 days, it's been with the PEB for 74, I wish I knew how close I was, wounded warriors said I'm looking at April for the dod decision?

Tomorrow makes 12 weeks for me, had someone from april 1st on my base come back Monday. Hopefully we’ll be soon
I'm at 9 weeks, I hope you hear back soon, I'm just hoping I hear back before my EAS in July

I have spent time looking on this forum at other peoples timelines and stories so I figured i would add my own. 10 years of service in the Nuke field and issued into IDES in October of 2020.

Issued into IDES - October 25, 2020
First exam - Jan 5, 2021
Last exam - Feb 25, 2021 (I had 6 exams in total)
Call QTC and be proactive with your exams, otherwise they will wait and schedule them for far out dates.
VA.gov shows case closed - Apr 7, 2021
I am in IDES so i can't see any proposed numbers and they don't send a letter either.
NARSUM/NMA complete - Apr 9, 2021
I signed eMEB - Apr 12, 2021
Package sent to PEB - Apr 20, 2021
Fit/Unfit - ??????
Ratings - ??????
Orders and exit date - ??????

I reached out to my lawyer and PEBLO yesterday to get an update. Lawyer said that my package hasn't even been assigned to anyone yet and nothing has been done. My PEBLO said that she has people that have been waiting 11 weeks and still have no information, so hold tight and hopefully we get an answer in a few weeks. "A few weeks" is what i have been told throughout every step of this process. How is this a thing? How are these people able to just sit on this important paperwork for months and not even open the files? Sorry, venting a little bit but I think it's just ridiculous. My lawyer also said that a lot of people on the PEB are PCS'ing so there is a big changeout of personnel which is why it's taking so long. Any information on this or help in any way? Wish i could see the progress for myself instead of relying on email's through my PEBLO/Lawyer.
MED accepted August 6th
PEB accepted November 26th
VA findings letter received January 5th
Dod unfit ????

What does everyone do to get proof of service for applying to GS jobs?
I went to my admin- they wrote one up within a 24 hour period.

Anybody hearing anything? Or are we just gonna have another slow week in this never ending hell?
