IDES Timeline

Hey everyone!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve checked in this forum.
I was scheduled to have a FPEB 1June. My attorney said that it would be better to just submit a VARR because he didn’t think the board would go in my favor.
1Jun VARR was submitted and results came back 27Jun.
Temporary medical retirement DOD and permanent on the VA side.
Went from 0%/90% to 30%/100%
Now I’m hoping to be separated by late September at the latest.
What’s everyone’s timeline been like from the moment of signing their findings?

Depends on how closely your command follows their message traffic, lol

Oh yes, that seems about right. I found out some info on my VARR. Ultimately, it was never processed after we submitted it. Va never received it. That’s all I think I should say for now about it. Lol. I’ve got another 2/3 weeks now lol @eringregoire

what even… how did you find out it was never even processed? I’ll make sure to
keep checking on mine now too… today makes 2 weeks since I submitted mine.

Well, I submitted my VARR in may. I kept asking attorney for updates. He was basically notified that my VARR never actually existed. It was received at DC….but it was never processed. They actually closed my case out and I was set for separation. We had to show evidence that it was submitted on time and the prof that the peb received and downloaded. Quite frustrating.

Anyone know which organization to look under for retirement orders in message traffic? For example, if I'm going through Balboa in San Diego, will it be seen under NAVMEDCEN SAN DIEGO CA?

holy hell. I cannot believe how shitty they are at tracking the only thing they’re responsible for…

Dude, I know.

I have zero faith in the system. Took an act of congress to get them to open my case back up….or so it felt.

You are referring to your RAD orders directing you to TDRL/PDRL? They get addressed to your operational command and your PSD, with action directed to your parent command. Command admin is *entirely* responsible for working your separation paperwork with PSD, setting up your retired pay account, etc.

My MEB referral was sent on JUN 23rd 2022, and my Permanent Profile was made on July 6. How long does it take the approval authority to sign?

Thank you for the response. I hear a lot about these RAD orders being tucked away inside a CUI folder and has posed a problem for some admin personnel as they don't look in said folder. Do you know anything about that?

I will preface this by saying I am not an IT guy, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Basically, the new “classification” of “CUI” on PERS and other messages required a separate sub folder because it’s a new “classification.” I am putting that in quotes because it’s not really a classification like I’m used to the use of that word. Not like Secret, TS/SCI, or whatever….but I digress.

So anyway, the CUI classification requires sub-folder access. Apparently commands weren’t trained, or don’t have the access (you have to request it or something?), or don’t look in said folder.

That’s about where my actual knowledge stops, but I am of the understanding that something like 90% of the “PERS never sent my message!!” rants are anecdotally traced to commands not properly checking message traffic.

The picture below was posted by another guy in a different group I’m in. Pretty good advice as far as I can tell.

Thanks a lot, PERS-95. If not the Holiday Inn, then where?!

Just got my EAS (27OCT22). My command has the PFA scheduled for first two weeks of August.

Based on what I could find, a retiring / separating member is waived only if their terminal leave starts before the PFA. I do know that the cycle goes through the end of the calendar year. I won't be starting terminal before August but it seems silly for it to be a requirement even though I'm retiring two months after.

Could I just not attend, and thus fail? Yes, I could. I've never failed one and have only been waived for one because of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

Any one know of a cleaner way to excuse myself, or anything in policy or instruction that provides a way out of the apparent silliness that is a PFA two months before retirement?

I just had this discussion today. You could just get a PFA waiver so that means doing a new PARFQ and getting everything signed off by a PCM. For me it’s not worth the hassle. My PEBLO said the findings will not be affected if the PRT is not taken

When did you sign your findings if I may ask?

Just take the PRT. It’s honestly just easier to do it. Passing or Failing doesn’t matter since you’re getting out and paperwork is done. Worst case you’re on FEP until you start terminal and that’s if your command are sticklers for it.

I failed the past 2 PRTs and it didn’t affect me taking terminal or anything.
