If you receive a favorable combat-related finding on a Navy Code 13 appeal, the net step is for the PEB to issue corrected findings and to send these findings to your service headquarters to amend your retirement or separation orders. While this should occur as a matter of course, there have been occasional delays in transmittal to PERS (Navy) and HQMC-MMSR-4 due to the holidays. If your Code 13 decision is issued prior to your retirement date, then you will want to ensure that your attorney or your PEBLO follows up to ensure receipt by the action officer for your service. Note- these action officers are reluctant to accept corrected findings from the member- thus, following up with the PEB to ensure a timely transmittal of corrected findings to your service headquarters is critical in such cases.
