Incorrect pay and accidentally separated

So... Ended up with 100% PDRL. Chapter 61 retirement orders were clear and 20 yr letter from guard time. RSO out process went well. Then everything came from together. Upon attempting to get an updated card at DEERs, I found out I was separated in the system. Then some paperwork showed TDRL. This began the arduous journey of correcting all these pieces and different entities. I finally got that corrected and then my pay ended up being short by about 1/3.

DFAS was unable to see any issues and could not see the calculations used to reach the pay numbers. I put in a request which took a month to fulfill, but I finally see what they did. I suspected it was the case. My rank/time is correct, but my grade is incorrect. I am paid as an O-3, but it should be O-3E.

What is the best path to correct this grade issue? At this point simply writing DFAS via snail mail seems to be the correct option. The money is not an emergency for me, but months to correct all this is becoming unfun.

Start with a congressional inquiry. The reason is that there is usually one person tasked with military, DFAS etc. They are good at coordinating things so that when you submit a ticket with DFAS it can be followed up with since some times the issue is the paperwork from your branch. So it can be a very long and slow blame game.

My wife's SBP premium was wrong from the start and DFAS stated they didn't have the election form. So I called them up and guess what? They did have the form on file and they were confused as to why it was checked otherwise. It took a DFAS ticket and a congressional inquiry and 4 months to get it fixed and reimbursed for over withholding even though they had the correct forms and paperwork on file!

Thank you. I had not thought of going down that path. A ticket number would be nice for tracking purposes.
