Involuntary MEB

I am Army and being sent through a MEB for sleep apnea. I’m unsure of why this is happening when I haven’t brought up any issues to my PCM about this. I do have other issues I think would be deemed unfit, but they haven’t been mentioned.

When you meet with the MSC (VA rep) you can claim all conditions.

You must have REALLY bad sleep apnea to get an MEB for it. I have known multiple people that have it while in service. It is 98% of the time not used as an "unfitting condition" for DOD review. Only the VA uses it for calculation.

I would suspect some MOS/AFSC/Rates can not be accommodated with 110 VAC access.

I’m completely new to this. What does that mean?
For certain jobs in the military sleep apnea is an unfitting condition. MOS/AFSC/Rates are acronyms for job or specialty. MOS is the acronym for the Army duties. For example i was a 56M which at the time was called Chaplain's Assistant and that job having sleep apnea would not be unfitting and I would not be kicked out because of it.

As an example, if you job is infantry, your service can not guarantee access to power for a CPAP. This is different from a person that works on a boat or ship that normally has power. Many members have an assignment limitation code that means they must deploy to a place with power available.
