IPEB FINDINGS: NFFD and placement on TDRL

So, this is what I just found out is coming from HQ for me. Does this mean I am at least 30%? I am under the impression that it must be 30% or more to be on TDRL in the first place. I only got this info from the website that HQ sent me to follow the progress of my IPEB, so I should see something official very soon. Can someone clear up the TDRL thing for me? I understand that I get re-evaluated every 18 months, but as far as pay goes, do I get 50% automatically, or is it based off the % they assign?

uscgdonald,

Yes, placement on TDRL means they found you unfit with condition(s) rated at least 30%. While on TDRL, you are paid at a minimum of 50% of your retired base pay (average of high 36 months of basic pay). If you were rated at above 50%, you will receive that actual percentage, to a maximum of 75% (the statutory limit for receipt of military disability retirement pay).

I hope the finding is what you hoped for, and if so, congratulations!

I was rated at 60%. Jason...you were right on! You are truly an expert in your field. I suppose the only thing I would have rather seen was PDRL, so I would not have to do the re-evals every 18 months, but I am still happy with the decision.

Now that you're on PDRL, would you mind giving updates on how you keep up on doctors appointments and things like that to show at your 18 month exams?

uscgdonald, Congrats on your rating. Have you checked out the following?
The Physical Disability Evaluation System FAQ
It seems to be a good read. I am in the initial stages of a USCG medboard, I have my physical scheduled for 24March. I don't like not knowing the unknown but after almost 25 years I have gotten immune.

BuiltGypsy; I will do my best to keep you posted on how things go with follow-up appointments.

RayH: Good luck with your Physical. Yes, I had read that website. It is actually one of the great "wells of knowledge" when it comes to the subject of MEdical Boards. The FAQ, and pebforum.com were the two websites keeping me sane along the way!

RayH, how long did it take from finding out they were going to start the MEB until you were able to get the physical?

builtgypsy,
I was told on 5Feb that I was going to be medboarded. I would have had my physical within about three weeks from them but I ruptured a disc in my back on 13Feb. This set me back a little. I don't know what the normal timeline is for getting a physical set up but I am at CG HQ and the clinic schedule usually runs about a month out. I hope this answers the question.

uscgdonald, I agree this website is great.

RayH, that does help a lot. Here in San Diego it seems even to get the most basic appointment it takes about 3-4 weeks. Slowly I'm going to try and get a consensus of all the little steps through the MEB and PEB and add them up to get a more detailed timeline for people who have specific questions like this. So thank you for your answer.

Have they told you how many physicals you should expect to have?

builtgypsy, I was not told. I have a follow up with my PCM on Monday. I will inquire if she can answer that. If not, I will keep you updated after the first physical. I am hoping that I will only need one, but that may be wishful thinking. I am not sure if my rheumy and optamologist need to be involved.
