ipeb results, 70% just keep it right?

ADAF, 10 yrs, legacy, got ipeb results back from afpc in less than three weeks somehow. 70% Permanent Retirement. Rated for a neurological disease contracted while in Iraq that is very severe. They gave me non-combat related, and 20%(X4) for mild weakness in each of the following: left upper, right upper, left lower, right lower extremity under 8513-8520. It added up to 59 then 65 after bilateral factor rounded for 70%. Trying to decide why it would be worth going to the FPEB for just a couple hundred dollars a month difference. There is no doubt that my weakness is severe or at a minimum moderate, and under those changes the rating would be well beyond 75%. Also, it is my whole body not just the four extremeties that are weak. I don't want to play with fire at the FPEB though, and since my disease insn't specified in the VASRD maybe they helped me out by using 8513-8520. Some days I can't walk without help and others I might seem normal as long as I am not exerting myself.

Any opinions on fighting for an extra 5%?

The board will reexamine everything and could give a lower rating. If you want to risk that, then...
 
Sounds like what happened to me. I accepted the 70% and then appealed to the BCMR and was given 80%. Appealing to the PEB is not your only option.
 
How did you receive a rating from the IPEB? With the new pilot program, the ratings are now done by the VA which occurs only after the IPEB finds you fit or unfit. Can you please explain??

I was in the legacy program as well--after 2 years, I'm still waiting for a VA rating...

So will you receive back pay (compensation) from the date you were separated to the day actually receive a rating?
 
That would be nice but honestly, I haven't looked that far into it and really don't know.
 
Claims filed within a year of separation or retirement are back paid to the day after separation or retirement. Normal offset rules between military and VA compensation apply to the back pay.
