Is it normal to take this long? I'm becoming more stressed/depressed :(

I am currently in the Navy. A med board was initiated for me on 4/20, C&P Exams were done in May, and my package arrived in Washington 6/13.

I am currently still waiting for an unfit/fit decision, and its really getting me down (my package will have been in Washington 59 days as of today). I can't really make any plans for the future until I atleast know about fit or unfit. Is it normal to take this long? PEBLO is helping as much as they can, but they haven't gotten any new information. Is there someone I can call to atleast get an idea of how much longer my case will take? I'm miserable coming to work everyday with no answers, this IDES thing feels like punishment for getting injured. :(
Any insight would be appreciated. I feel like I might have a nervous breakdown if I don't hear anything soon.

I'm no help whatsoever because I'm still finishing my C&P exams but I just read your post and I feel for you! Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear about your long wait. Hang in there!!

Got my VA civilian apt done in Jan of 2016, got my unfit, and va findings back in Jun of 2016, and am still waiting for the DOD to finish my package as of today. They go SO slow it feels like, but you have to remember that they are SWAMPED with people, and there are drastically less of them than of us. Patience my friend, Patience.

P.S. I'm currently a walking talking mental breakdown. Don't let yourself get to this state, its uber unhealthy and miserable. Just go about you time and don't worry about the process.

The amount of stress I have from waiting for my IPEB results/ratings
is giving me migraines and sleep paralysis lol :-C

Unfortunately you have a long way to go from being found fit or unfit. Mostly the unfit side. Find something to distract yourself, that's the best advice I can give. Work as hard as you can throughout the day, and distract yourself at night. If you need, go see a counselor, that always helps. Take care of your mental and physical health as you can :D

I've been at this for more than a year from the date that my surgeon told me he wanted to stat a MedBoard for me. Hopefully yours goes quicker.
It's been 9 months since my official start, but I do have a couple of things wrong with me, so idk. I've heard that the more you have wrong, the longer it takes.

A year? Oh you poor thing! You seem to have a good attitude about it, which is great :)
While my board is for an injury sustained, my mental health has deteriorated drastically since it happened. Panic attacks, depression, you name it. I wonder if its possible to add these conditions as boardable, and if that would speed the process along. I just want to try and move on with my life, this is so hard.

im still waiting on my fitness finding as well.

adding additional items to your claim may cause further delay I would think....

You're probably right...I guess I was just hoping that maybe its taking so long because my case is a little difficult, but adding on these other things might make the unfit picture a little clearer? I don't know, I'm probably just reaching at this point lol
I'm just having trouble getting by, I've had ups and downs throughout this whole process, and I feel like I'm starting to spiral into a very distressed place. I'm clearly unable to do my job, so I don't understand why its taking so long. Does anyone know, once I am found unfit (assuming thats what happens), how long does it take until you are officially out?

Heres another question someone might be able to help with...
My EAOS is 7/17. If, by chance, nothing has been determined by then (knock on wood), what would happen? Should I be looking at trying to extend my contract now, under the assumption that eventually I will be found unfit? I hadn't done so as of yet, because I figured that Im not able to do my job anymore, so its pointless.

If your case is not complete by the end of your contract you will be placed in a MED Hold and held at your current command under extended orders until your case is completed.

That's good to know! I was worried about that. Do you know where I can find the instruction that mentions that, so I can show my command?

I am kind of confused by the official IDES timeline. On the chart it says "IPEB 15 days." If mine was accepted in June why is it taking so long? PEBLO has no answers. Should I start trying to call the regional office to find something out?

My IPEB took 42 days, hope something comes soon for you.

Thank you!
I wish there was a way for me to check on things on my own, sometimes my PEBLO just decides to not respond to my messages (I got a definite "nothing new" from PEBLO 2 weeks ago, and they haven't responded to my messages since; that's my clue that nothing new has happened). Sometimes I feel like the PEBLO was super gung ho about helping me until it got to the point where my package was sent away, now they're just letting me float in the wind. :( I'd much rather be able to just call people myself or check online or whatever.

That is how I felt at the beginning, but after my case spent so much time at the IPEB, I began to visit in person during their Walk-in hours to get a status update. This has helped me personally a lot and my PEBLO has been amazing...he knows me by name...I think in a good way. Also since I have started visiting him he is more responsive to emails. We have a great working relationship.

I may have to start doing that, because being ignored makes this process even harder. PEBLO was so supportive at first, to lose that support during the most difficult time is tough. I've been only e-mailing because I was never given any "walk-in hours." A couple of times I've passed by the office because I had a medical appointment anyway, and no one has been there. Maybe I'll make it part of my daily routine to stop in.

Yeah, I visit once or twice a week. This is a rough time for me too, the PDA sent my case back to the PEB to answer a question and it has been there for nearly a month (this Friday). I had signed my 199 too! I was ready for my name to hit the list and have me orders generated. Hopefully soon....

Still nothing...this is driving me nuts.

I've noticed that a few of the people on here whose cases were submitted around the same time as mine have gotten their unfit findings. I've gotten "nothing yet" each time I ask the PEBLO and MSC. Is this a bad sign?

No, it is not a bad sign. Each case is unique and will progress at it's own rate. It is not a good idea to compare yours to any other case.

The official IDES timeline is 295 days start to finish. Some take more, some take less. My own case took over 1600 days.

Wow how did you stretch it that long?
