Will my re-evaluation under TDRL have any effect on my VA rating?

I'm rated as follows:
DoD
30% stable
70% unstable (mental)

VA
100% P&T

Thanks

The overwhelming anecdotal evidence suggest the answer is no. Usually, the VA doesn’t reevaluate P&T unless you claim something new.

I ended up going through LDES. I had no desire to go through the VA exams again.

Oh that's great to hear. That's exactly the choice i'm trying to make. At what point do you tell them that? (when they assign you a peblo? or what

When I was assigned a PEBLO I told them I wanted to go LDES because I already had my VA rating. The command then had to approve the LDES choice.

Oh really, wow... good to know. did you already have 20 good years?

Yes but I took the disability retirement vice regular.
Hello @Gorun26.2

A "Regular" retirement is one where the retiree completed 20 years or more active-duty duty.
A "Non-Regular retirement" is a reserve/NG retirement with 20 good years and receives retired pay upon achieving the age requirement (requires application)

Evidentially, you now have a CH 61 disability retirement, but you have 20 Good Years for a reserve retirement.

As you near the age requirement, you can apply for your reserve retirement and its approval will trigger the payment of CRDP (if otherwise eligible) by DFAS.

Yes, that is the term I should have used. A traditional reserve retirement with 20 Sat years vice "regular" active duty retirement.

Thanks

Wait, even with ch.61 retirement , you’ll still have to apply for retirement as you’re near 60?? . But I thought you already getting retirement pay once ch.61 is complete? I know CRDP will kick in then but if you apply for CRSC once ch.61 is done, I do see the need to apply for retirement when you get to 60

Yeah that’s good to hear, I’m trying to follow your route now. I’m at 20 year waiting for my letter & profiles to start the process

I have a "regular" retirement but did not know about the term "non-regular" until a few years ago.

Yes, you have to apply or your reserve/ NG will not begin.

Yes...It is a different retirement with different laws.

Is it 2 paychecks too. Ch. 61 pay & rese retirement pay?
No; however, the higher multiplier (DOD or longevity) will be used.

There still will be a VA offset (waiver) dollar for dollar in the amount of VA compensation. You keep any residual retired pay (left over). CRDP will restore the longevity portion of retired pay, BUT the combination of CRDP and residual retired pay cannot exceed the longevity portion of retired pay.

In most cases like yours, the retiree ends up with:
—All their VA comp
—An amount equal to the longevity amount paid by DFAS.

How long did it take to get orders after being placed on TDRL and signing paper with PEBLO for your rating and not appealing?
