Hi all,
I wanted to put my time line here for those of you currently going through LDES just so you have a spot to conversate about it and or ask questions, I may be looking in the incorrect locations on the forum, however I have been unable to find others timelines who are going through similar things. So my timeline is as follows...

September 2019: LIMDU (first)
January 2020: MEDBOARD
End January: MEDBOARD complete
18 February 2020: Case submitted to PEB (informal)

As of now I am waiting to hear those results, I have been informed by the LIMDU coordinator that once the results (UNFIT) are back, I will work with the command on a separation date. Leave as well. Additionally, for a little more insight, I am working with Camp Pendleton, as far as where my PEBLO is located. Also, the last LDES case out of Camp Pendleton, once at the PEB stage of things, the findings were complete and member notified at the four week mark. I hope this helps others going through this trying process. Keep your heads up out there. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks all.

Just curious... why LDES vs. IDES? When will your VA stuff be completed? Post-separation?

Yes, I'll be completing it post separation. I'll be separating with a DoD percentage, which could be lower than what the VA may rate something at, and that's ok with me, I'll get it sorted out later. There is a local VA center in the town I'll be relocating too, so it shouldn't be to difficult. I chose LDES simply for the speedy timeline. I have a wife, and two children who I'd like to get back to sooner than later, also job opportunities. IDES in my eyes is better for those who may not have a plan just yet (employment, unknown income after separation) or have no reason to rush the process. That's just my opinion of course.

Update,
Still no word on my case, in regards to being found fit or unfit.
Last update was that my case was accepted beginning of March.

I'll post here when I do get word, so all going through what I am, will have a better idea of the LDES case time lines.

Hey ZG, I have nothing to add other than I am still in that same boat (little Navy pun for you ).

- to MEB in December
- Condition did not meet retention standard (still DEC), referred to PEB
- 3+ months later, still no word from PEB regarding fit/unfit despite single referred condition with no VA involvement (LDES). I contacted PEBLO about how to go about filing the inevitable IG complaint against the PEB for inequitable treatment not IAW the new DODi and was advised to sit tight, that word would be coming soon.

I realize my MEB phase was very quick (LDES had a lot to do with that), but it is still ridiculous that it’s taken this long simply for a fitness determination. I was waiting on the IG complaint and eventual Congressional because I knew that would delay the fitness determination even further, but now I don’t really see what I have to lose. My health continues to rapidly deteriorate, which has been noted by multiple providers and relayed to the PEB both formally and informally. Meanwhile, I am stuck geographically isolated from my family, doing no work, just staring at the walls of my apartment. Slowly going crazy. I guess the cruelty is the point...

This has been me venting. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

What is an IG complaint? And how would you get congressional help involved?

Caveat: this is not legal advice or advice of any kind - this is me thinking out loud in response to your question:

Inspector General - paraphrasing their mission statement, they investigate allegations of misconduct, typically regarding complaints of FWA that violate rules and regulations. In this case, I am alleging that the new deployability DODi is being violated; specifically, the directive that all service members will be treated equitably during the separation process to include the PEB. I have evidence that my treatment was demonstrably inequitable and this resulted in the uncharacteristic delay which continues currently.

A Congressional inquiry is different, and this involves contacting those representatives regarding a perceived injustice or unfair treatment. I think that I would get some traction with this option given that my evidence is pretty damning against the board, but these also (in my experience having seen a few) take a long time. Ideally, the board renders a decision so that I can either accept or appeal with the evidence I have gathered. But again, it’s been three months now for a yes/no decision on a single clearly unfitting condition, so escalating this to IG and/or CI may be the best recourse.

Hey brother,
I am not a legal advisor by any means, but i'd have to suggest sitting tight as well. If I were you, doing an IG would make me worried I could delay the process, or start a new one that could drag out longer even after your findings are in. Also remember.. do what you're asked, as well as show up on time etc. Stay out of trouble, and keep your head up. You wouldn't want this to turn into a disciplinary action/sep. I'll reach out to you a little later today. I got your PM. Take care, and keep your head up.

UPDATE: Spoke with a really helpful individual yesterday over the phone, not my PEBLO of course. Anyway, at this time, they are now reviewing my case. The person I spoke with was kind enough to give me a rough estimate when I would hear back with either an UNFIT or FIT decision... He said within a month. However, could be sooner, he didn't want to give a short period of time, and me be upset after it passed with still no word. I completely understand that... Second thought though... I should've just went with IDES at this point. Nuts. Anyway, you all going through similar situations.. I hope you all are taking it easy, and one day at a time. This process have proven to be a very trying one. Take care everyone.

Anyone know what kind of timeline i should expect once my case is actually on the table and a decision being made? thanks in advance.

Another update in regards to my case. 2/3 have reviewed my case and have made a FIT/UNFIT determination... however since this is an LDES case I've been told they cannot see what the first two individuals have decided. As of now it is on the Presiding Officers desk, and awaiting the final decision. 21MAY2020
Additionally, I have posted this somewhere else I believe.. anyway I was MEDBOARDED for Dysthymic Disorder and GA (personal details that reside within the two, are pretty extreme). You all take care.

would you mind sharing the phone number you used to find the progress of your case

I am in the same boat would like a point of contact, TSC Great Lakes

Try these numbers. (202) 685-6422/6419

Also you should have a PEBLO(not saying much...) but someone in his office can look up your case directly, and help you out. Be persistent. Let me know if this information is helpful or not, if not i'll do some more research.

No that's exactly what you have to do. They rarely answer. I did get ahold of them prior to this COVID-19. I know it's frustrating, but just keep trying that number. Also, call your PEBLO, and if he can't give you a status of your case, I promise you someone in that office can, and will. Ask the questions, be persistent with him/her so you can get directed to someone who can help or will take the time and help you. Being LDES, you wont be able to see much, other than where exactly your case is located. But it is nice knowing SOMETHING.

Update: Still on the Presiding Officer... 8MAY2020

3rd Update: Still on the Presiding Officer... 8MAY2020

4th UPDATE:
9JUN2020, Presiding Officer has made final decision which is... UNFIT determination, 50% DOD rating, 3YRS TDRL. Driving down to Pendleton tomorrow morning to sign all paper work and accept findings tomorrow morning... because i'd rather do things in person, also i'm able to ask all questions that i may have. Any of you out there going through this situation... remember it's a trying one, and keep your heads up. I know i have had such a rough time internally dealing with all of this, I've been away from my wife and children, and have leaned very hard on the friends.. life long friends that you find while on active duty, to get me through this. It has not been easy by any means. I've even made contacts from the PEB forum we all are apart of. Thank you for this web page. It has been one of my few outlets. Anyone who needs someone to talk to, or just PM back and forth... do not hesitate to get ahold of me. I plan to still be an active member to help those in need.

NOTE: So now i have been found UNFIT.. it should take anywhere from 15-30 days for an update to occur in NSIPS to change my EAOS. Once that happens, i can go ahead and work to route terminal leave, house hunting and job hunting. I say this incase anyone is wondering what happens now. Take care all.

How far out after you recived your findings and took care of all the necessary tasks( Release of medical records/ Seperation physical signature etc.) did they push your leave date out to? I’m on the 4 week mark of my case being at the PEB in DC. Hopefully hearing back this week (crossing fingers.) I would like to leave as soon as possible but use my leave days for terminal along with my PDY. Just trying to get out ASAP to get my surgery and not be in chronic pain. I have already completed my JKO’s, got a signature from my school house, got all the pre requisites from Medical clinic On base and met with my student coordinator. The only remains items to do for my package to be brought up the chain of command for a date to leave are the release of medical records signature from the VA and a signature from a LT at the clinic just confirming my physical(Which i will not need to do an actual physical if they find me unfit). So basically i just need to do two things that can be done in a day. Friends going through said they recieved there date a week following submitting all the documents, but they are pushed out very far and have to work to get it moved up.
