This thread is over a year old, but for the benefits of someone else who may be having problems with Lexapro, I am posting this reply. As a Psych. clinician, I am perhaps more qualified to post an opinion. Lexapro is a very good drug for depression, it will lift your mood significantly if that is your diagnosis. However, if your problem is chronic dysthymia (long term sadness/low mood), then your Psych. Doc need to put you on other suitable drugs. There are heaps in the market for these. Also, Lexapro is will known for eventually developing tolerance on the body, i.e. your body gets used to this drug that it eventually ceases to have any effects on the patient, no matter how high the dose. When this happens, time to make an appt. with the Psych. and negotiate a change in meds. Don't be afraid to fire your Doc if she/he won't work with you. It is your (broken) mind that you are trying to fix. Fight for it.
