Hello,

I've been in the Air National Guard for about 5 years and was in the USMC for 9 years active duty.

I was on a 6-7 month deployment and after returning, while on title 10 leave started having bad shoulder pain...went to MTF and they thought it was probably just tendonitis/bursitis. Went home after a steroid shot and pain meds.

Spread to both shoulders after off title 10 orders, knew something was really wrong and went to civilian DR and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Was diagnosed about 2 to 3 months after title 10 orders ended.

Started spreading more and put in a VA claim, awarded 80% presumptive service connection for RA.

Put in an LOD request.....after about a year (last week) got email from wing medical to submit medical records for DES evaluation......Also learned that LOD was determined Not in the line of duty.

------

I'm trying to find out who and how to submit an appeal to for the LOD determination. I "Think" I have the correct email for the person but they still haven't replied with how to submit, format, info needed, sign offs needed etc.

I'll just submit an email to all email address I have if I don't hear back on how to do it from them in time but...

I was going to attempt to use VA presumptive service connection decision to hopefully get the LOD re-evaluated and updated to In the line of duty.

I've been looking but can't find information....Is the a specific DoD or service related instruction that states DoD should use VA service determinations in their evaluation?

My end goal is to try and get healthy and stay in but I'm really scared of what could happen so want to have the LOD in the line of duty before going into the DES/MEB/PEB process.

Thanks a lot for any info or advice
