LOD now or then?

I was hoping someone could shed some light. I am going through a PEB process and just signed my paper work to move forward. I have copies of the paper work sent to the board and the one of interest was a Line of Duty that was submitted by my flight Surgeon. It states that he has no doubt that my chronic neuropathic pain is directly related to Desert Storm. This LOD is also signed by Staff Judge Advocate, State Joint Chief of Staff (I am a Guard member) and my commander.
I made a copy of this to be put into my VA claim. Is this as good as a LOD done back during the War or am I just hopeful thinking?
Your thought?

Fleigerhorse,

Welcome! So long as they are an authorized Secretarial designee, it is just as valid. There should be some statement like "By Authority Secretary of the Air Force," or the like. In some cases, you will see a separate memo authorizing signature. Of course, if it is an informal LOD, then the authority is by the position and you should be fine.

I think you will be fine with this, but, of course, it is impossible to know without a review of the documents. You can review the LOD regulations, which are posted in the appropriate forum. By referencing the document and the regulation, you should be able to find a definitive answer.

Best of luck!
