MEB 8-12 FEB

After waiting 5 months I have finally had my MEB dates scheduled from the 8th through the 12th of February for Bipolar I disorder, Severe Paranoia, OCPD, etc. They have scheduled mulitple Appointment with behavioral health, Phys exam, PULM PFT, a PEBLO brief, Dental, Eye's, Hearing. Followed by getting my NARSUM on Friday the 12th. This has me a litllte concerned I have waited all the time to get railroaded through now.

I don't no I feel like some how they are going to push things through so fast and that I am some how going to get screwed like everyone else I talk to... who took forever to get through the process. If anyone has some words of wisdom I could use them as I am starting to freak out just a little bit.

Ummmm... I've never hear/seen a "schedule" as you speak of. But does sound like a "normal" time line. Then after submission, wait a week or two for results that ou sign for then it gets forwarded to PEB or HQ (depending on outcome/acceptance)

I wouldn't be too concerned, this from what I've read isn't too unusual. My husband has gone through the same thing, couldn't get them to act for two and a half years of being "unfit" (I hate that term), they have wasted so much time, and now, boom, they are shooting him through pretty quick. I would suggest you get a loved one to support you through this. You can benefit from knowing someone is there to be by your side. Once they have your NARSUM done, you can bounce off on here to see if your being treated fairly. You can also consult with JAG to see what they say. They will give you time to concider and respond. Do some homework, and decide what you think is fair, before you get there. TAKE A DEEP BREATH, good luck.

Thank's it just seems awfully fast and my mebt told me I would be signing my MEB before I left... Although having called around I think it's all lies, people at lewis have told me that you show up to wait in line not because you personally have an appointment. For that matter most of the things on the schedule I don't beleive were given enough time in the first place. I see leaving and coming back TDY again later a more likely outcome now that I have bugged more people. Thanks again Caleb

Caleb,

Just keep in mind that if you MEB is not complete or accurate, ask for the impartial review and rebut the findings. The biggest error I see in MEBs is failure to include the information from the VA worksheets in the Narrative Summary. Without this information, the PEB is at a disadvantage in trying to rate you. In a worst case scenario, they "fill in the gaps" with their "best guess" about your criteria. If their view is not correct, you are left to try to gather the evidence for the Formal PEB. This is not a good position to be in; while you can still prevail by gathering additional evidence, what should happen is that the MEB adequately addresses your condition with reference to the VA worksheets for each condition. With this information, the PEB has a much greater chance of coming back with an accurate rating.

Hope all goes well for you.
