MED board over 20 years active duty Navy

I just recently started a MEB after being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and was put on Humira which started a MEB. I have over 20 years active duty Navy with just over 2 years left on my 6 year commitment for CWO program. I have read a lot of forums on being medically retired after 20 and am a little confused on the process. If I regular retired I would get my pension and a separate VA check if over 50 percent. If I was found unfit and medically retired do you not get the same benefits as in two separate checks for military and VA?

Yeah you are good to go in your situation. Mainly it just gets you kicked out without having to complete your 6 year commitment. One small perk is that the annual enrollment fee for Tri Care Select for Retirees is waived if medically retired. Other than that compensation not much will change since you will get the higher of the unfitting condition (s) rated or your longevity + VA disability as long as rated 50% or more by VA. If rated higher than longevity it still won't net you any more or less since there is a maximum amount you can get for combined compensation between your pension and receiving VA compensation concurrently.

Thanks after reading other posts I was worried I was going to get screwed but sounds like everything should be about the same except for probably retiring earlier than I planned to.
