Some questions about the PEB that I have yet seen answered!

Hey Everyone,

First off, Love this site! I used to be totally lost in the whole MEB/PEB process and now feel alot better! Now my current question, I know that everyones cases are different, just curious as to what is usually seen for my conditions as far as ratings go. The amount of stress im in right now, boils up there with the same feeling I get when told, "We need to talk!" from the ole lady! Here it goes, I'm being boarded for PTSD combat related, MDD-Recurrent, and possible TBI with Cognitive disorder. From what yall have experienced, what percentages have you seen these get rated?

Also, I'm waiting to get my ratings back, hopefully here soon, which were received by the PEB in Fort Lewis on 08JUNE10. But on 12JUNE10 was informed that I was accepted into WTU finally after about a three month wait. Will me going to WTU this late in the whole med board process slow or screw anything up?

Also, has anyone been accepted to a wtu and if so how long did it take before you got your orders. I'm at Fort Bliss and literally can sprint to our WTU its so close, but I'm ecstatic about going even though it shouldn't be long. Speaking of which, I've heard from other posts in this forum, that there is a minimum time you have to spend in wtu before discharge. Is this true?

I'd also want yall to know that i appreciate all of you here in the forums. A special thank you goes to Jason, for helping me understand this whole process.

Thank you all,
SPC Busch

Demonfister,

First of all, I'm sure someone with more experience will pipe in here with the what the board looks at, etc. I just wanted to say I hold no judgments...I suffer from PTSD and while doing better have not kicked it totally yet. I also suffer from TBI...so my case is out at the IPEB right now. A little bit different, I'm AF...but its a joint effort. I don't think the WTU will slow the process down in any way...once the package is gone it is on its way. Methinks that as long as your issues are documented and the reasons for the abuse are CLEARLY attributed to the PTSD...that is the best that you can do. It may even help in a way because it shows the severity of your condition. I dunno. Also, as long as your sucessful treatment for the alcoholism and drug abuse was documented--I think that is about the most positive thing that can come out of this as well.

As far as ratings go....you can check out the "ratings" section or VSARD of this website to get some ideas, but here are some quick notes:

PTSD: There is a pretty good chance that is found unfit you will go on the TDRL with a 50% rating and a re-eval in 6 months. This is due to legislation a couple years back.

TBI (Check out Sec8045--Residuals of TBI): Ratings at 10%, 40%, 70% and 100%. You obviously can type and can take care of yourself....probably 10-40% range...maybe...use wksts.

Note: Each case will vary. I'm not a Dr, lawyer, etc.....just trying to give you some ideas....

Good luck!!

Nate
