Medboard Timeline (Walter Reed)

I spoke to the VA again today and they said my case is now showing “Ready for Decision” she said that there is 2 parts in that phase where first a supervisor reviews the decision and then second the decision letter is drafted. Does anyone have experience on how long this has been taking recently? I still have nothing showing in my VA app.
That's a great question lol. My claim populated as complete the moment I could ever see it if you're talking about initial ratings proposals - I never saw the internals of that. I can however say that from submission to the PEB to ratings proposals it took two months. Whether that remains to be the case is anyone's guess.

Jeff told me his guesses at each step of the way and they were almost always spot on accurate.

At what point are you able to see your claims with the VA? I'm currently about to be submitted to the PEB within the week and wonder when I can start getting an idea of when those ratings will be ready.

  • First week of November (not sure the exact date): MEB referral was sent
  • November 9,2023: PEBLO emailed me about receiving my referral and also sent forms to fill out
  • November 14,2023: Attended IDES briefing and also met with my PEBLO after the IDES briefing
  • November 29,2023: had phone interview with my MSC to fill out forms & submit claims
  • December 1, 2023: My MSC told me he officially submitted my claims to the VA and now I just wait for them to call to schedule appointments
  • December 22, 2023: VA called to schedule VA exams
  • Jan 16-March 7,2024: VA EXAMS… last exam was March 7.
  • Apr 17, 2024: PEBLO called me to come sign my Narsum
  • Apr 19, 2024: Narsum sent to PEB
  • May 16, 2024: case went to the QA (Quality Assurance) stage
  • May 30, 2024: claim closed on VA website
  • May 31, 2024: Called VA to get them to email me my proposed rating.
Now I’m just waiting on the DOD rating and for them to send it back to my PEBLO. Does anyone know how long it’s taking nowadays to get your findings back from the date that your VA claim closes ?
Do you know when your peb was accepted for action?my narsum was sent 16th accepted 28th(aug) would that mean two weeks from acceptance for getting the claim to QA for me?im wondering on timeline rn peblo says 45 days (he said that when it was submitted and when I called him again yesterday)

You're able to see the claim at the latest when the VA finalized their decision for a proposal. Some people have reported seeing their claim the entire medboard process, others have seen it at PEB submission, I honestly don't know. People have unanimously reported (from what I've seen) the claim populating in historical claims when it's all said and done though. Just keep an eye out for a closed claim and then badger the VA hotline to send it to you. You'll probably get denied a good few times.

Thank you ,would you happen to know current timelines for post peb acceptance ?peblo said 45 days for the entire peb but some said 180 days not sure

Good morning ya'll can someone post or tell me where I can find Jeff Johnson's phone number?

@jsaint05 has your case been closed on the VA app? I know we had similar timelines I haven’t heard anything from Jeff when I call him he hasn’t answered Friday or today. When I called the VA they said it’s still in the “pending decision phase” which she said it was last worked on back in April which is when I submitted my C&P exams to start my PEB.

Yep, my compensation claim definitely has been in the cloed status on the VA app for the last 2-3 months now however whenever I call the VA's 1000 number the reps always say that it's in the "Decision Phase" and that it is ready for a decision but one hasn't been made yet and when I ask what they're waiting on to release the proposed rating them claim they're have to wait on the DOD to finish with the Fit/Unfit determination and the DOD rating before they have any files attached to my case to send out. Basically, I think you and I are in the same exact boat. We're literally just waiting on walter reed's PEB baord to make a decision on us on the DOD side then the VA will move forward and give us our proposed ratings.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Jeff, if you were planning on calling in today to get an update, don't. Jeff just told me that the entire system is down and asked to call back tomorrow to get a status update. Everybody at the office has no idea what just happened.

Yep, just call and tell him that you’re calling for an update on your PEB case. He’ll ask you for your social security number and then tell you exactly where it’s at in the process. Call between 9:30am-10:30am for the best chance at reaching him.

Last question I promise, does he only give updates for Walter Reed cases, or would he be able to give an update for Jacksonville?

Yea it looks like the system is still down which would explain why he just took the phone off the hook or it gets sent straight to voicemail

I’m in Jacksonville and called Jeff a few times for updates before I got my proposed rating. I usually call at 0730 local and he answers. Actually gonna call him Friday for an update on my findings

@CoyoteSwapped about how long after you entered the QA stage did you get a FIT/UNFIT decision and then how long after that did it take to get either your DOD or VA proposed ratings?
