Medical extension - ETS date

My question is - My ETS is 31 December 2012 - my PEBLO ( even though I asked him back in November) put in a request for a medical extension last week - it was signed by the MTF Commander and then my CO but has not been processed to HRC yet - probably not going to be processed before my ETS - my case went to the MEB and is currently on its way to the PEB - but what happens when my ETS date hits - can they even ETS me while my case is with the PEB - ??

Any insight is much appreciated - the stress just makes me want to start smoking agian.

Thanks

Everything generally works well. Your ETS is a number in the sand when you are in the med board process. It will move based on needs. If you finish quick, you will get out sooner. If you finish late it covers you. The biggest thing is it ensures DFAS contuinues to pay you past your old date. Watch your LES and ERB to ensure that date moves. If somebody drops the ball, the effect could be no pay check. You will get back paid when they unscrew it, but that doesn't help you put food on the table in the mean time. Remember, Army Emergency Relief, or whatever aid society that services your branch is there to help for these exact situations. If you don't see a paycheck, get to them right away. Not only will they help with money, but they also know which buttons to push at the PSB and finance.

You will need to extend in order to finish through the IDES process. Someone from the PEB should have contacted your PEBLO to request documentation (updated ERB/PQR or extension paperwork) from either you or your COC reflecting a current ETS date. Your case is put on a hold status until the PEB receives that information. Once it is received, it continues to move forward. If you haven't done so already, you need to provide that documentation to your PEBLO so he or she can forward it to the PEB in order for your case to continue through the process.
