I am Active duty Airforce getting MEB for separate issue.

Hi,

I have just completed my VA mental health exam. I have mental health stuff going on but I have not been to mental health yet for my issues. I'm wondering if that will effect my claims. Do I need to have mental health records to get VA claims is all I'm asking.

Thank you

No you should be good, but when you have a chance it would be ooh of you to start complaining to medical about your issues so you can be seen before you get medsep.

BLUF: concur w/ WeaponX. I had difficulty getting an appointment at my MTF; so only one BH appointment before my VA exam (QTC). My initial dx was 'adjustment disorder'; however my VA proposed ratings included 'anxiety & depression' based on DBQ. By the time my NARSUM was finished (Army) I had been referred to cognitive behavior therapy (18 + mos of constant pain & not sleeping) so that was included; however that is still 'fit for duty' for us and did not factor into the PEB. Also, if it's not in or incorrect on the VA proposed ratings you can submit a VARR if you have the documentation to back-up a change.

Thank you. I just don't want it to delay me getting out is all I'm worried about. I don't want to be retained that is why I have been avoiding mental health and I just feel like I'm not ready if that makes sense. I just want to wait until I get out. I have an eating disorder, insomnia, anxiety, depression that's on just my mental health portion I have tons of physical problems from my car accident.... I have almost 30 claims right now my General Medical VA exam is on Friday then I guess the ratings will be determined and I will have an appointment with my PEBLO or VA rep after that?

I am Army, so AF may do things a little different. I completed the VA/QTC exams in April and received MEB results in June. My PEBLO briefed those documents to me (including NARSUM & revised permanent profile) and then sent them to legal. I reviewed the documents with legal and signed off and sent that to the PEBLO early July. Then everything went to an IPEB and I received notification at the end of August that I was found unfit and then ratings came back early September. Once I signed off on the IPEB (early October) and everything was finalized I had an exit brief with my VA rep. From IDES briefing to retirement orders was about 8 months for me.

Thank you for your help and timeline. Hopefully this all goes fast. Just finished last va exam today.
