My Timeline - Currently Waiting on VA for Ratings

Not advocating for the VA at all. I'm on the Navy side and it affects everyone. Just trying to share information and let folks know that its a known issue, no one is hiding it, and theyre actually taking concrete steps to fix it. I sit in on some Teams meetings where things like this come up every once in a while, and this was passed down from SECNAV office level as the information that they got directly from the VA. You may not care what is being done to fix things, but some people do, so I share the information. I get that you're angry and bitter and frustrated, but I'm not the enemy, brother. Just the messenger. Go shoot someone else.

Everyone is already aware of the issues, it’d be hard to hide the issue when Sailors/Marines are waiting 3-5 months for findings. I don’t think anyone is under the impression that information is trying to be actively hidden. We’re all aware acutely aware of the backlog so there’s no need to beat the obvious drum repeatedly.

That’s great that you’re so informed at such a high level, what a resource.
I as a matter of fact do care because I am one of the countless numbers of Sailors that this is impacting. You must not have picked that up from the tone in my first response.

If you’re going to be the self proclaimed “messenger” of information, I recommend you adjust your tone in your replies moving forward. Don’t talk at or down to members in this forum, especially if you’re not in the position that 99% of us here are in.

From another page I am on. This is the current Navy practice. Timelines for separation are dictated by DODI and deviate only slightly, unless someone has a specific situation (PLD, admin hold, short EAOS, etc) that requires deviation.
Thanks for sharing! Just signed my findings on February 2nd and this helps explain the process and what to expect.

I just called the VA, and they told me my claim is still open, and that it’s in the preparation for a decision phase, I’ve been unfit since Dec 02, 22; i also asked for an estimation of when it would be completed and the lady said she doesn’t have one….does anyone know what that means or how long until a decision?
Hey there,

They’re gonna keep saying that until it’s done. I sat there and called them once a week for months cause I was anxious about getting the ratings done. Doesn’t do much though unfortunately. I wouldn’t waste the time sitting on hold lol. My ratings took 88 days from when I was found unfit. Received findings a week after that. There’s people on this thread who are taking longer than that. Probably not what you wanna hear but hope that helps some. In the meantime, submit additional medical evidence through your VA MSC if your conditions have worsened. Wish I would’ve done that.

So I could be waiting upwards of 110 days to just GET and EAS after signing finding?
I apologize if I was vague previously. I mean your separation date is generally set to be 55 or 65 days after receipt of index, +/- perhaps a few days.

Pers-95... solid info. I remember being in the same situation as those that replied. You are desperate. Some deservingly so and some trying to escape the remaining time on enlistment. It is not until after, when you realize that it is a long drawn out process in which you have no control over....

I'm about to just go camp outside the Winston-Salem VA if you want to join me, this is so stupid. you can't convince me there's a reason to sit with a rating team for over a month.
Haha I’d be down. I actually walked into the regional headquarters office for the VA here in Maryland and they told me proposed ratings aren’t even done there so I left with nothing..

Another update, got in contact with my MSC, someone is FINALLY working on my proposed ratings. He said they have a limited amount of days to decide those and send them out so here’s to hoping I only have one more week :/

Updated timeline:
Peb accepted Sep 28 2022
Found unfit Nov 3rd 2022
Va claim closed Feb 2nd 2023
Received findings Feb 9th 2023
I will sign my findings Feb 13th 2023
I got 40% DOD and 100% VA
I will update when I get my EAS hopefully that doesn’t take forever

I am curious to how long it takes for you, I'm in a similar but different boat, signed for not accepting my findings, if I withdraw my appeal right before it is supposed to happen, I would be out at the earliest in the week of June 19th, which is exactly what I want, I only have to reach June 10th to make it to my 20 year mark. Good luck, hope you get news soon.
