Navy TDRL - Trouble receiving DD-214

Good afternoon all,

I medically separated from the Navy on 29Nov2022 and was placed on TDRL. My DD-214 was completed on my day of separation but it was never emailed/mailed to me. I have a copy of it which I downloaded from MilConnect but it has a watermark across it reading “official record copy”.

My VSO is requesting my original DD-214, without water mark, to start my VA benefits.

My admin doesn’t have it in sales force so I cannot get it from them. I’ve also been in touch with MNCC since mid December but they’re just a middle man it seems.

Who else can I contact to get my DD-214?

TSC Norfolk is the originator of the DD214s. You get to then via a MNCC ticket. In the ticket, explain that you never got an email or hard copy of your DD214, and request (in the ticket) that your request for to TSC Norfolk or NPPSC for adjudication.

Failing that, get your congressman involved.

VA.gov, log on using DS logon, go to records dept. Use request military records DD-214. See if it works

Thanks for the response. I’ve had a case open with MNCC for DD-214 since 15Dec2022. It’s been on the same status since my discharge date “Preparing to release”.

I forgot to mention I’ve also called my congressman last week but nothing so far.

I happened to see the MCPON public affairs is on Reddit r/Navy so I reached out to them as well and they actually got back to me. Hopefully this resolves my issue!

Thanks for the reply, yes I’ve been tracking that since I went through TAPS. From my understanding they’re fast tracking medboarded Sailor’s 214’s so they can receive the care they need asap.

I did receive the copy of my 214 the way your described but since it’s watermarked my Military Services Coordinator assigned to me from the VA won’t accept it.
