New VA Program in Corpus Christi?

Well I just spoke to the PEBLO and I was told that a majority of asthma cases come back with Admin Sep and severance pay. This was disheartening. She also told me that they are returning cases within 2 to 3 weeks for active duty, but all that’s besides the point.. I went to go sign up for D-Tap, but was told that the VA is taking the program over and calling it something else and is providing a VA process that reduces the time to receive benefits from 6 months to 30 days to eliminate a laps in pay and benefits..... I go to a workshop on the 30th about this and will provide more info when I get it.. Has anyone heard of this?

I think it's the same program Surfer495 and Purple is and was in, respectively. Hopefully one of them or Jason will be able to jump in with the program name to make it easier to find out more about it, because the name escapes me.

Yes, I think Jason has it right on this one. The Benefits Delivery at Discharge is a great program from everything I've heard about it. It doesn't sound like the DES pilot program I'm in because I don't think they have expanded it beyond the DC region yet.
 
I attended the regular TAP (transition assistant program) through the Air Force Airman and Family Readiness Center. I never heard of DTAP until I found this site. I'm going to check into DTAP or benefits delivery at discharge.
 
Purple, have you looked into any other VA programs yet? Everyone needs to look into the vocational rehabilitation through the VA. I think you need at least a 10% rating. They will pay for all costs, tuition, fees, books and any other expense related to you getting into a new career because of disabilities. They will also give you a monthly allowance on top of you disability pay. I think its about 600 for full time college or training. So, this is much better than just the GI Bill.
 
Voc rehab is a good program. Be aware that the Improved GI Bill looks like it will pass into law. That program will be one to watch.
 
The only thing I think that would put voc rehab over the new GI Bill is voc rehab pays for all your supplies, like books, while the GI Bill gives you $1,000 a year in books. You'd have to start looking real close into classes you wanted to take whether you'd have to start dipping into your BAH stipend to pay for your supplies.

Thats exactly it! The people down here are confused about it. The VA is hosting a Semiar on the 30th at NASCC. I will be there thats for sure.

I just hope I get a rating and not a severance check.......
