NLT Date extension request

Greetings all, I am looking for examples of DA4187 requesting NLT date extension. The only one I have is a template requesting the extension due to wanting to use excess of leave, but I was wondering if anybody has requested it because of another reason other than excess of leave?

I can send you one in private chat. My wife just had one filled out 3 weeks ago. She needed to extend her NLT date 60 days because she had 100+ days of leave and 20 days PTDY.

I am following because I will possibly end up in a similar situation. I am guesstimating my 199 date at this point but I am looking at needing to extend my “NLT” date due to terminal leave and Skilsbridge. Could you send that to me in DM as well?

When if got my NLT date, i tried to get an extension and it was quickly denied and the reasoning is that Skill Bridge and having excess amounts of leave aren't justification in requesting an extension whereas having a school aged child would be as long as it doesnt become a detriment to the losing unit.

NLT date extension for Skill Bridge isn't a thing. However, extending NLT date to use Terminal and PTDY is in the regulations. However, your O6 must sign off on the form. I don't see a scenario where that doesn't get signed if you will lose leave due to a 60 day lifetime limit for sale of leave. My wife did this last month. It was easy peasy.

Was it denied by HRC or your command? I have command support through my first O-6.

Not in all services. PTDY, yes. Getting to use *all* your terminal leave if you have a huge amount saved up, no.

For the Army its YES even if you saved it all up. Its in the Regulations. AR600 4.9 i " See below...

i. The “not later than” date, set by the U.S. Army Disability Agency, may be exceeded to allow the Soldier to use
accrued leave as terminal leave only if the Soldier has cooperated to meet transition requirements, and has not willfully
failed to comply with instructions in accordance with time lines of AR 635–8 and AR 635–40. These requests will be
processed in accordance with AR 635–8 and AR 635–40."

Copy. Didn’t know that for the Army, but there’s no parallel in the Navy. Hence my “not all services” comment. And I didn’t see where he said what service he was in.

You might want to ask the PEBLO. I have it but I was told that that DA4187 form has been revised and so the one my wife used is obsolete.
