Not sure if MDD with PTSD will qualify for CRSC

Hello group. My apologies if these questions has already asked to the group.
My questions are, if I’m service connected for MDD with PTSD, will this hurt my chance for CRSC? Since Depression is intertwined with PTSD and vice vesa, will the service connection have to only list PTSD? Will this affect my CRSC chance?
Heres my backstory: Looks likely ‘ll be medically retired soon from 3 deployments to the AFG/IRQ with combat traumas. The MEB office is currently writing my NARSUM. They said Behavioral Health granted a Service Connection for MDD with “some” PTSD. I started seeing B/H 2 years ago with a documented history of counseling, medications, hospitalization, Out-Patient care for PTSD.
Like most Soldiers, early on we learn, (Feelings & Trauma = bad). Telling ourselves, “Feelings lead to questions, questions they don’t want answered”, and “Expressing this Feeling/Trauma will force me out”.
This forced me not to seek help for 8 long years. Even after getting into treatment, I downplayed my trauma to multiple counselors, skirting around the issues, (Still concerned something “COULD” be used against me). After a year, I found a really great Provider, who opened me up and pulled my PTSD out.

Hello @Mr.Tito

Recommend you submit an application for CRSC. There is no penalty if it not approved.

There are several discussions on this board regarding the subject. I found them on Google without using this board’s search feature.

Obviously, you will never know for sure unless you submit an application.

Also, I do not recommend hiring an attorney to assist with the simple application. One does not have to be a good writer to have a successful application. Proof/evidence is the key.

Good luck,
Ron

Ron,

Thanks for your post. I do plan on submitting, I was just concerned. Kept speculating someone would simply auto deny due to the wording between MDD with…. versus specifically saying PTSD as a stand-alone

My tbi and MDD were combined into one rating as well. Worked in my favor because it out me at 100% for one rating and I had 60% of others making me automatically eligible for House hold bound Comp.

I'm kinda in the same boat but a bit worse. My back is crsc and my MDD was caused by the chronic pain but wasn't secondary it was its own primary issue so it wasn't coded as CRSC at discharge. Still ima try

1. MDD and PTSD will be one rating.

2. Get help crafting your CRSC claim. The general distress of combat action will likely be denied. If you have a Purple Heart talk about that specific event. If not talk about a close call and get buddy/supervisor/commander statements. But get help crafting your claim.

Hi sir,
I have seen the MDD and PTSD will be one rating often, can you explain this for me? I am going up for three BH conditions and curious to know what the likely rating would look like. Does each condition get factored in the final rating?
