I've got 21 years of service but only 7 years commissioned so I can't choose to retire on my own but I have had a lot of health issues and on my second LIMDU now and my doc says I will probably get medically retired but I should be rated at 100% disability. Looking at the regular retirement I should get 52.5% PLUS the whatever the VA disability gives me, well when I went on the dfas medical retirement calculator and put in all my info it deducted the VA disability from my retirement pay. Is this normal in a medical retirement?? If I change numbers around the end pay always comes out the exact same, that doesn't seem right to me...If I have to I will break my legs passing a few more years of PRTs to be sure I get my 10 years commissioned service because if this is correct it would cost me about $2000 a month if I lose concurrent payments. Anyone have any experience with this???
