Is this even an option like when people say choose VA pay because it’s tax free vs DoD?

BUT, although PDRL DoD pay is taxed, it will never change vs VA pay can always be adjusted and reevaled thus possibility to lose money, correct?

From my understanding you have to be eligible for a 20-year retirement in order to receive concurrent retirement disability pay. If not, when placed on the PDRL you'd have to waive your DoD retirement pay in order to receive VA disability compensation.
I believe you are correct with losing compensation from the VA if your ratings are adjusted, so it's going to be something you'll have to look a lot into regarding how much money you'd receive from both ends.
If you have to elect for one or the other, and your DoD retirement pay is higher than the VA disability at the moment you have to choose, I'd elect for that over the VA disability compensation in order to prevent the risk of your ratings not increasing. Again, I would choose that if that's your situation in the specific moment you have to make a choice.

Elect VA pay. If Va rating is reduced you’ll receive your residual retirement pay.

Situations:

1. VA comp 2000 and DoD 1500
results in zero retired pay and 2000 VA comp

2. VA comp 1500 and DoD 2000
results in 500 retired pay and 1500 VA comp

Opinion: I would always opt to accept VA comp. If the DOD amount exceeds the VA amount = retired pay for the excess Ret pay over the waiver plus the VA comp
