If my husband's ebenefits went from "pending decision approval" back to "gathering of evidence",what does that mean? He called the Va the other day and they said it's in the last stages just waiting to be approved. But now that it's back at "gathering of evidence", I'm wondering if it's going to take even longer. Any insight on this?

For some reason eBennie does that. keep an eye on it and call the VA again in a few days.
I had the same thing happen and I called the VA and they sent my stuff to AFPC on nov 10th. So I asked my PEBLO and he said nothing yet be patient. It seems like to me that when most people on this forum have their ratings sent from VA it takes about 30 days or so to get their ratings from their PEBLO but not me.
He went to see his MSC, who of course was unavailable, just like his PEBLO is always unavailable. He was able to see a different MSC and his ratings are done! Now just have to wait on the PEB. Glad to know he is just waiting for his 199 and then orders. Even if it's going to be a while longer, knowing where he packet is, is wonderful!
Yea usually when you see you ebennies shoot back after about 30 days or so that means your ratings are proposed, he should see his 199 about 14 working days
