I’m currently going through a MEB , i just made my medical appointments for the VA claims. i was also just told that i failed a drug test & could possibly be considered to separate under chapter 9. i have adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression etc.. when i went to the mental hospital my doctor seen the marijuanna in my system but didn’t report because it was due to one of my episodes & i didnt abuse drugs it was just a one time thing. a month after i left there i took a UA with my unit and they found drugs in my system. overall i am a great soldier! never been in trouble before. can anyone provide information on how this can be handled?

Pending MEB & Chapter 9

During your MEB Brief, they should have made it abundantly clear that you don't want to do anything to jeopardize the MEB (DUI, Fail UA, beating your spouse, etc...). You are very early in the MEB process since you haven't done your medical appointments yet. If you Chain of Command hates you, and wants to chapter you out quickly, then they could. However, if you are a great soldier, then they will most likely just sweep it under the rug and let you MEB.
*Please keep your nose as squeaky clean as possible from this day forward. Do not miss any formations, volunteer to help out for tasking that you can do, do your job, etc. Don't give them any reason to consider chaptering you. You definitely want to MEB. My opinion, they won't chapter you for your failed UA and will let your MEB, but don't do anything stupid from this day forward.

Happened to someone in my unit. Fortunately for him, he was at the very tail end of the medboard process (he had already received medical retirement orders) and popped hot for weed on a UA - the command was sick of him and just wanted him out so they decided not to process paper work to discharge him since it would take longer.
Hopefully your leadership will just let you ride it out.
