I believe I am getting misinformed on this topic and I would appreciate someone's expertise on this. I was rated 0% DOD and 40% VA, DOD and VA rated 0% for the disability that booted me out of the service. I called DFAS twice and I'm not getting clear answers from them on receiving my severance tax. One lady told me flat out "No your not getting your taxes back". She stated something about me not qualifying for TDRL(Temporary Disability Retired List). My injuries are not combat related and I received severance payment on 28 Nov 2012. Please let me know if you need any other information. I was military police for nearly 13 years and I would hate to donate a huge sum to IRS.
