Hello All,

I was recently medically discharged and accepted a percentage from the VA. My retirement date was 19 July (yesterday), I was hoping to get some info as to how long I should expect to wait before seeing my official percentage pop up on VA.gov. Any info/experiences are greatly appreciated!

4-8 weeks. Not too long.

I was Army, went through Ides out of Europe. 1 august was my RAD. I received my first retirement check today. (I was over 20 years) My VA claim still says it’s “evidence gathering, review and decision”. A little frustrating but what to do; have to be patient is all I suppose.

Were you medically retired or separated with severance?
What percentage ?

I just checked the app and it says “We are prepping your ratings decision packet to be mailed.” Still doesn’t show the percentage or copy of the letter they are mailing.

Meanwhile; 25 Sept 23 today and I am still waiting: 1 Aug 24 was my release from Active Duty (med retired over 20 years)

Could be worse.
You could get an administrative separation and a miserable 10%, and basically get nothing..

Am I correct in assuming benefits will be retroactive to the date of discharge? I've heard in the news that the VA is de-facto not paying benefits the first month after discharge and Congressional action to correct this is forthcoming. Have any insights on this?

Its all retro. A lot of the times to include for my wife the VA didn't give her the 1st months VA compensation even though she was due it because the timeline was too close on getting it all done. When she received CRSC she got all of her back payments for retro CRSC from DFAS but that one month wasn't included. About 2 weeks later the VA credited her that one month where she should have gotten VA compensation. So basically retro pay is all from DFAS except for one month that the VA didn't offset her pension. That is where the VA paid out the retro money for that one month.
