Pregnant during MEB process

Right before I got recommended for MEB, I got pregnant. My MEB is moving REALLY quickly in comparison to some of the ones that I have heard about. It sucks because during my C&P exams I feel like I am not really in a position to be fully examined because of this pregnancy. I think xrays and mri's are what I would need to strengthen my case, but obviously that is a no-go. Anyways, i got referred 19 May and got my unfit letter about 2 and a half weeks ago. My PEBLO is on leave until Monday, but after talking to my case manager to check on my status of my ratings, she told me they put my ratings in the system, but that I would have to wait until my PEBLO comes off leave Monday to find out. My question is, once the ratings come back, what is the process? How long does it take? I am due October 30th and everything is happening so freaking fast! I want to stay in, and so does my COC, but due to my injuries, I can't progress in my career and my injuries are making work and home life very difficult.

I'm surprised they even went through with your case. I found out I was pregnant the first time I was referred to MEB and they halted it. They told me they would resume after I had the baby because the C&P exams. I feel like I've been waiting forever because I kind of have been. I originally started Feb 2013, stopped, then restarted Dec 2013.

Maybe you can request to extend your orders just so you can have the baby. I have heard of that happening for extenuating circumstances.

any update?

Pregnancy usually cancels an MEB because normally they effect things like ROM leading to faulty C&P exams.

It is very hard to predict the rating process. It all depends on the VA, but sounds like that is done. So monday you will get the 199 and have 10 days to mull it over and decide to accept or reject. If you appeal, it adds, on average, 3 months to your timeline. If you accept, they send it up for the 199 to be accepted, 1-2 weeks. You will have 90 days to ETS from then. This should put you past the OCT 30 mark, by at least 2 months.

Not sure on your branch of service, but in the Army extensions are possible if you are in a medical hold status. If a doc signs off that you need more time for treatment, shouldn't be a problem to get more time. I can't say I've heard of them signing off on that 2 months after a non-complicated pregnancy though, but if you feel you need/want it, ask.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Indeed, any updates as to the status of your particular situation at this point?

Take care, and congratulations on the forthcoming birth of your new little one!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I know this post is really old but I was searching for a recent answer and couldn’t find anything. I’m just posting this for anyone still wondering what happens when you get pregnant during the medboard process. I’m being medboarded and found out the medboard process will only be stopped before the papers have been sent to Texas for the review. You sign the papers with the Pueblo and they mail it off, at that point you can be pregnant. (Meaning if you are very early and can hide it and you want to be medboarded don’t take a pregnancy test with work until this is done)
The medboard won’t be affected once the papers are sent off. However I was told if you disclose pregnancy before the VA appointments and signing it will be stopped until you give birth and cleared. Hope that helps anyone still wanting to know. I’m a active Army female with upper spinal herniations. I had a pregnancy scare during the process and just asked my Pueblo. Ultimately if you still have questions just call your local peublo/medboard Office and ask. :)
