Presumptive IBS crsc? and SSDI question

Hey all,
You were all helpful while I went through my Medford, and I was hoping to get some more guidance.
I am rated for a plethora of conditions, however I am currently wondering how applying for CRSC works. I have 30% for IBS and I was deployed to both Uzbekistan and Kuwait. The IBS got really bad after Kuwait. Is that enough to win a CRSC case? Also I am 30% for asthma which my pulmonary doctor linked to burn pits in Kuwait, has anyone won a crsc for that yet?
Lastly....I have my SSDI hearing in July, does CRSC lower your SSDI if I win my case?
Thanks for the help!

CRSC is not related to SSDI. IBS is presumptive, meaning if you have an IBS rating CRSC should be approved.

Glad to be of some help to you. Have a great day.

Did you submit a CRSC claim for IBS yet?
I submitted mine and really anxious to see if it is infact..approved lol

I was denied. I started having severe IBS when i got back from Kuwait, but then had a cholosectomy a few years later due to something going on with my gullbladder. They denied me saying that my gullbladder removal is to blame for my IBS, not Gulf War. However many of the studies i have read said that gullbladder issues are part of the issues Gulf War people are having. I may just wait and re-apply when i see what the VA is going to say about my migraines.

Update. I was approved today. 30 percent IBS and 30 percent Asthma. A total of 50 percent. Now I just need to find an accurate calculator and hope the back pay comes soon. Still waiting on ssdi. My court case was July 12th 2021.

If you are speaking about CRSC approval, your CRSC will be the lesser of:

--The amount found in the VA compensation tables for 50% with applicable dependents

OR

--The longevity portion of your retired pay which is:

Active Duty Equivalent years and months (see the info in your retirement orders, 3/4 down on first page, "Disability Retirement" multiplied by 2.5% (2% if you are under blended retirement program) = longevity multiplier.

Average high three base pay (total of highest 36 months of pay divided by 36) x longevity multiplier = longevity portion of retired pay.

Thanks Ron! When I do all the math I get the 50% disability being the lowest at about 1000 a month. ( give or take).

If your approved CRSC percentage is 50% in the approval document…Good to hear. What is your active duty equivalent from your retirement orders? Edited to add: IF you have residual (left over) retired pay from the VA offset, then the combination of CRSC and residual retired pay cannot exceed the dollar amount of the longevity portion of retired pay.

I have 17 years 3 months active. My high 3 is around 3850 a month which is a low estimate.

Hello @dposey717

OK…I asked because the majority of CH 61 retirees receive the longevity amount because they had much less AD time than you. Also see my recent post about your possible residual retired pay. Ron

Hello @dposey717

If you would like for someone to provide a CRSC estimate, please provide all the info cited at:

It should be in one reply.

Sir, Do you know if you are diagnosed with IBS after retirement and it's presumptive do they backpay you based on your retirement date if awarded CRSC?

Thank you.

I am not chaplaincharlie but your effective date cited in the approval document (CRSC) can be retroactive for up to six years.

On the other hand, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 20 years after I retired and I did not receive CRSC for earlier than date of diagnosis.

The CRSC effective date generally follows the effective date of VA compensation for the Combat Disability.

I am still kicking at age 76. There are many worse off than me. Thank you for your words of concern.

Take care,
Ron

Hey there, I had a few questions for you. I am currently gathering information for CRSC submittal. I am pursuing my Asthma (60%) and potentially IBS (30%) as they are presumptive. What all did you provide with your application? I don't want to over- or under-do it with documents. Knowing that you have approval, curious what all you sent. Also, did you appeal or did they come back with an updated decision automatically?

Thanks, and glad you got the approval.
