PTSD & Diabetes Insipidus Med Board

Good morning,

I have been active duty in the USAF for 13 years now. I was diagnosed with central diabetes insipidus about 15 months ago, the possible cause of this medical condition was due to an IED explosion in Iraq, TBI related my endocrinologist told me that after conducting several tests she documented it on my medical records. I have been admitted in the Emergency Room one time for the diabetes insipidus due to losing tremendous amounts of sodium. I also have been seeing mental health for the past 2 years and I have been in different programs for PTSD treatment. Next month I will be admitted in a VA hospital for (PRRP) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Recovery Rehabilitation Program inpatient for 67 days. I have been told by my PCM, Therapist and Psychiatrist that I will be med board for the PTSD and Diabetes Insipidus. I honestly don't know what to expect and I have been stressed out a lot due to this. I talked to my PCM and all he said is that a PEBLO will get in contact with me. I have lost hair due to this stress and anxiety and I was told by my PCM that this is called alopecia arata. Is there anyone who can provide me some support on my case in what I will expect with my med board and the VA. I really appreciate this website and all the support. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about your health. We all tend to dread the unknown. Your MEB should be fairly straight forward. My guess is that focusing on your treatment while in PRRP would be a great use of your energy. Being retired, even at 100/100/SSDI/CRSC or CRDP, is no good if you are sick all the time and/or feel bad. Work on making as much progress as possible, so that when retirement comes, you can enjoy it!
Best wishes
Mike
