This is my timeline so far:

18 Nov 2022 - referred to MEB
19 Feb 2024 - C&P Exams complete
21 Feb 2024 - NARSUM & NMA signed and submitted
21 Feb 2024 - VA in decision phase
23 Feb 2024 - DES attorney meeting
27 Feb 2024 - Submit Rebuttal
29 Feb 2024 - surrebuttal received
7 Mar 2024 - MEB complete
12 Mar 2024 - PEB accept for action

PEBLO said to expect “no less than 3 months for findings. Then 6 to 8 weeks for processing.”

Does this sound accurate at all? I know it isn’t a quick process but this seems excessive and I will have to extend.

Does the VA do their processes simultaneously as the PEB does theirs?

I got told a similar timeline. I think they give you the max possible timelines so they don't seem late. The VA seemed to start processing my claim simultaneously and was closed 7 days after my case was accepted by the PEB. You can check the VA stuff on either the VA app or the VA website, you won't see the claim processing but suddenly it will be on there is as a closed claim. Once it is closed you can call the VA and as to get your proposed disability rating emailed to you.

I got accepted in October and didn't sign until February. The holidays played a factor for sure, but it was about three and a half months then 4ish weeks for my new EAS. The VA and the Peb unfortunately don't seem to work in conjunction, they go back and forth. Things seem to be a bit faster than when I went through, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the 3-ish months and then the 6-ish weeks. Every case is different, and you could get unlucky. I'd take the time to check out in advance and complete any separation requirements and take full advantage of any advisors on your base.

In regards to extending, they will have do you a specific medical extension, probably for three months at a time. That's what they did for me. I am 137 days past my original EAS as of today. It isn't a factor in regards to expediting your process.

28 Mar 2024 - VA Claim closed

I found out I was in the parallel rating system last week. So the VA completed my claim without findings from the PEB.

Since my last post, I had received my proposed ratings from the VA. It took one call and they sent it over email.
I spoke to VA again today to ask if the PEB has requested my ratings since that would mean they found me unfit, they did not have an answer. They did explain there was an issue with my records so I called the MSC.
The MSC told me I was found UNFIT on April 5th and the PEB started matching up my ratings on the 9th.
This was great news to hear and based off other people's timelines and a lot receiving their findings, I am thinking I will have a full answer in about 30 days.

This shows even more that the MSC is a great resource for more information if the PEBLO does not have much.

I wasn’t as lucky with my MSC and to this day can’t think of anything she’s helped me with throughout the process besides raising my blood pressure. Glad you have had a positive experience!

EAS updated to 30 July 2024. Just a 17 day difference and what I was hoping for. I have 93.5 eligible days for terminal, this includes PTAD. I plan to go on terminal early June.

Be patient everyone! The process is painstaking but it is your career and your medical situation. Do not be afraid to call people and ask questions, regardless of your rank. Respect and tact goes a long way and we have the right to inquire about our futures.

Congrats!! I had a question about the EAS did you request to leave sooner? and if so, how did that process go for you?

I have a unique case. My EAS was in July anyway. My S1 tried to get me to extend 12 months and I knew I was at the end so I denied it. MMSR-4 changed my date without asking me but when I called, they said to expect the end of July or August based off how many days I had.

It’s my understanding you can go to your S1 and have them write an email to request a specific date. Could be wrong but it’s worth a shot if you are looking for something specific.

I shot MMSR-4 two emails myself. Do you think that would be ignored as opposed to having my S1 contact them?

I was planning on giving them a call tomorrow if I had not heard from them by then. Idk I hate the fact that we gotta rely on other people, who are less concerned about our situation, like no one will worry more about my life than me. Which is why I would like to do things myself and not bother anyone.

It annoys me even more when people try to gaslight you into believing something is not true. I had asked my S1 about my timeline concerns and the chief just stuck to the basic 4-8 weeks after findings. Like the chief could’ve told me about the extension stuff but I had to find that out on my own. (I want an EAS in end of August but will most likely get an earlier one due to days of leave/PTAD)

Idk, we’ll see what happens. I’m trying to wait patiently for a date, and if it’s not one that I’d like, then that’s when I’ll talk to my S1 about requesting an extension.

I just can’t wait for all this to be over and to finally be free!

Bro how was the timeline from your PEB to your EAS getting updated less than 2 months?

I think this a case of rank, sadly. If you’re a Lance, they may just ignore it and your S1 would have more pull. I called MMSR-4 and a Lance answered. I took what he said with a grain of salt but he ended up being right. I suggest emailing, following with a call after a couple days, and then getting your 1 involved.

The timeline has definitely sped up. I stayed on top of everything and contacted those involved after what I believed was a reasonable time. For instance, did not ask my PEBLO what was going on until I was at the PEB for about 4 weeks.

That being said, I think me being adamant and involved did absolutely nothing to speed up the process.

They replied. They answered most of my questions, and then my S1 chief was upset, that I had hit them up directly to ask that, but it is what it is.
My EAS still hasn't updated so I'm still in the waiting game.
I'm still hoping it'll fall in August. Considering we are now in May but we shall see
