so I started my medboard at the end of May and the C&P exams took the longest out of this whole process. After my IMR to get my ankle added to my NARSUM as an unfitting condition it was sent to the ipeb for a total of four days. It was t the VA for another 4 days and they sent back the results. 3 business days later I received my ratings. 30% DoD and 100% VA. Signed my 199 and will receive my clearing papers in a week and a half and should be on terminal leave within three weeks. Super happy that this process is finally over. The waiting game was the most difficult.

That is amazingly fast. What were your MEB referred conditions?

Degenerative disc disease with left S1 radiculopathy-unfitting-20%
Left ankle collateral ligament sprain (chronic/recurrent) failed reconstructive surgery-unfitting-10%
VA proposed 40% DoD came back with 30%

Hello,

I have the same conditions going up on DOD. Did they rate you at 10% for DDD and 10% for the radiculopathy?

I am pretty sure he got DOD 20% combined and VA probably rates him 10% for radiculopathy. Most of the time, DOD tries to combine back pain with radiculopathy you have to fight for them to separate it. They combine mine and I am fighting now to get radiculopathy separated from my back pain because they are separate disabilities.

WOW. Super fast!

I got ratings complete on the 13th and STILL waiting on 199......

OCDC are you Army? that is a pretty fast timeline you had for your MEB. Congrats!!!

Just checked out his postings, looks like he is army..

What was your timeline OCDC? With my claim being done on Aug 13, I'm thinking they should be done with my 199 by now lol

VA rated DDD at 20% radiculopathy at 10% and ankle 10% VA combined all at 40% and DoD gave 20% DDD and 10% ankle. Threw out radiculopathy

Ok, thank you for the response. Now I know not to get my hopes up for DOD to rate it separately without me fighting for it. With the VA rating it separately I'll take that.

I guess right. I am fighting for DOD to separate my radiculopathy from back pain. I just submitted an IMR. I don't think its fair for them to combine these two conditions.

Mine went up as DDD and had the radiculopathy listed as a separate finding/condition on the Narsum. I was found unfit on 26 August 2016, but no word on exactly what conditions.

Mine were both combined for one rating instead of being seperated

I'm guessing since they added my radiculopathy separate on my narsum without me doing a IMR, would the DOD still come back as not rating it. Guess I'll find out soon.

Im sure you are not in the Army because it takes us forever to get back ratings. I started my MEDBOARD same time you did and im still just waiting to get back if im unfit or not.

As long as VA rates your radiculopathy, DOD is bound to accept whatever the rating.
