Marine,
I have Crohn's disease and take humira; a similar immunosurpressive medication. The important thing to remember is your condition can have a flare up and be a big problem, especially if you are in an isolated location. You get infusions that have to be administered in a clinical setting. I give myself my injections weekly, but I can only deploy to areas with adequate medical facilites. I am not allowed to deploy to south west asia because of the surpressed immune system and the threat of biological weapons. I think that 30% is a good rating through the military; you will have tricare and all your medicine will be covered for the rest of your life. The only proble with the TDRL is that they can lower the rating to 10% after a reevaluation where you were doing better without flares. The point I am trying to make is that, the military is a great profession, but don't put your life in danger because of that. UC and Crohn's are very serious. If you try to be found for fit duty; you can be seperated for being non deployable and sacrifice the rating that you have just been awarded. Please do what is best for your health and YOU.
